Has anyone here been through sniper school, Army or otherwise? I know there are some here with Ranger, Airborne, etc. I'm leaving in April for sniper school. Just looking for some advice or experiences. I started on my ghillie suit the other day using multicam as a base. I reinforced the front with pieces of an old duffel. The jute/burlap is going be mostly lighter in color so I can darken it later if needed. Anything else I'm missing?
Also what was the most challenging thing for you? I have been into long range shooting for the last couple of years so I feel comfortable with range estimation using mils. I'm just not sure where I should focus any of my preparation for this
The FAQ thread has a little about it from Kida, I think.
Best advice I've ever received on these types of things- be it new schools, deployments, etc.... is "act like you've done it before". Followed closely with "be who you want to become".
Basically with anything (especially training), treat it as real as you can. Treat yourself like a sniper going through additional training or something. You're not trying to simply "pass", but to truly understand and master each subject to better yourself, and to hopefully continue on.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
