This is not a thread to take photoshop requests for making avatars. This is a thread to help users make their own!
Select your pictures:
Next, make sure you open the animation window:
Next, you want to resize your images to a square and 100x100 (ASM) or 80x80 (non-ASM) pixels:
Now that you have all your images resized, layer them onto each other:
Duplicate frames for how many different “slides” you want:
Highlight all the frames and change the time to slow it down (if desired):
Add text to a frame by selecting “t” on your keyboard. You change the font, size, color, etc.
To add a border, double click on the layer and select “stroke” on the bottom left side. Under the position option, select “center”. You can change the color and the size of the border as well. Now go through each frame and do it to the selected layers.
After changing around the font, borders, size, etc., it’s time to export it for the web. The avatar sizes will again vary depending if you’re ASM or not. 8 kb for non-ASM and 16 kb for ASM users.
Go to “file” > “Save for web and devices”
Make sure “GIF” is selected at the top. This is the only file to make it animated.
The file size may be too large, which will show up in the bottom right corner, but it can be made smaller by simply lowering the amount of colors in the top right. For example, the default is 256, so try lowering it to 128. Then just save the file in any location.
Here's the final result:
After the file is saved, you can either directly upload it to PbNation or upload it to a site such as
www.photobucket.com and paste the link.
