NPPL/NPPA posted a team list

It doesn't show paid/unpaid status so cannot be certain that the teams on the list will play.

With 9 divisions, there will be a lot of winners.
It also looks like 7-Man is more popular among teams so far then the new 5-Man race option

I wonder what's going to happen if 5 man has an odd number of teams or a really low turnout, like in D2 with only two teams.

That is a good question and I would like to know that as well because my team wants to play the Race to format.

This is going to be a disaster. They should pick one format. What a joke. Can't wait to see divisions with <10 teams.

yeah 6 teams signed up for d3 race to 4
only 2 teams for d2

This change is going to cripple the NPPL IMO.... with the chips, increased entry, and lack of teams, I think the PSP will have a huge advantage when it comes to negotiations for a combined one league for 2013... NPPL had a nice comeback in 2012 but it might not matter if this is the way 2013 is going to go... I mean HB is THE event for the NPPL, its right up there with Vegas in turns of turnout and excitement... and this is the response they are getting for the opening event for the season.... doesnt look good for NPPL.

HB is still like a month off so calm down guys.
A lot of teams will pay entry last minute!
The 5 man divisions are starting to look like the RPL tournament haha.

Agreed, They should have stayed with the 7man format as that is what the NPPL is known for.

As for my team we just want to try it out for one event.

I'm wondering if they're going to be playing at a faster pace or not. Since they basically run Race To in the finals, I haven't really noticed a change of game speed. These could either be quick points or really, really long points...

I personally think it will run faster games than last years finals matches. In finals if you win your first game the team can automatically switch to defense mode which makes for long drawn out games. In race to 5 youre trying to get a huge point spread in as little time as possible. But, only time will tell.

I can just see it going slower, since teams will still be in that 7 man mindset. More methodical moves, etc. I'd love to see some aggressiveness from teams this year.

PSP's opener is also just a couple weeks out, where as NPPL has over a month still..

Keep in mind that the NPPL has more then a month to get that number up. Plus Huntington will never be more then 130 teams because that is what the NPPL caps it at. Or at least that is what they did last year.

I have the team registered on NPPA, I hit the display/edit roster button. Then i select team from dropdown menu and it says info will listed here. How do i get players onto the roster?

Hopefully the race-to actually has the quick turnaround and the air stations are in the pits and not in a centered location like they usually do it. Would suck to have to run to the air station 2 fields down and back in time before the next point.

That's great! So does that mean there will be two air stations per field? Or is there going to be certain fields just for the race format?

Well PSP event is 3 weeks earlier, so that has a little bit to do with that. Also people are still figuring out the new NPPA website. Its also important to only consider PAID teams, a lot of people sign up intending to play but it doesn't work out.

This year the NPPL actually has more divisions then the PSP
