Is there a plug or something that can close up the grip when the magazine is not used?

can make one out of foam or rubber. take a small sponge like for washing dishes fold it in half length wise and jam it in there.

Yeah, good idea. I have some of that around. Since the rifle, without paint and on a remote, weighs 8.5 lbs. taking the 9oz mag doesn't seem like much but every bit counts.

Which rifle the t9.1? 8.5 lbs? Maybe 3.5?
