Sold off the luxe and returned to AKA.
Picked up this featherlite about a week ago and it will be quickly coming together for the 2012 season as my primary gun.
What I am starting with:
-Warped bolt pin
Never been a fan of stock viking frame at all, its always the first thing to go.
I've done ul'd, dm5 frames multiple times and a few others so this time I wanted to do something different.
I ended up picking up a Gen4 timmy frame. This is on my list of top 3 favorite frames and I am pretty sure nobody has ever put one on a viking so right away that was a plus. I intended to do this on a highlander I had about a year ago but decided it was to much work and ditched the project for a UL frame. Well I got alot of spare time at new job and they let us do whatever we want so here it goes....
Step 1, stripped frame down to make it easier to work with:
Step 2, figuring out the best way to mount it, Due to trigger guard I decided to keep stock mounting locations and ended up with this:
Step 3, tap for threads:
Step 4, new mounting system complete:
Step 5, find out frame is contour cut to bottom of gen 4 timmy:
Step 6, shave off a bunch of metal:
Step 7, cut down frame to match tray, making sure to leave sharp edge:
Step 8, cut finger on frame, making sure it goes deep enough to draw blood:
Step 9, stand back and admire work:
She goes out monday to go on DC weight loss plan.
Then she will be off to anno.
