Never thought of it that way. I'll probably hear that the next time I see the name though.

Royals win 88. Tigers win 91. Hot topic going in to next off season is how dayton moore was too cheap to pull the trigger on ejax or oswalt and this non move costing them a playoff spot.
Book it.

Fukodome is a better player for what the White Sox are trying to do. Konerko will be back. So will Dunn (and he will improve). They want Fukudome to be the patient, annoying hitter he always has been so the Sox can get in to the bullpen and crush the ball.

I wouldn't count on Dunn improving that much if at all.

There is simply no way he has a season like last year.
He won't be an All Star, but he won't hit that poorly either.

Teheran is all my friends who are Braves fans talk about, seems to have a ton of potential. I've seen Pomeranz pitch in person several times when he was at Ole Miss, I think he will be a very solid MLB starter in the future. Zack Wheeler gets mentioned because of his very, very high ceiling but he's more of a toss up at this point. He's still very young and very raw, but if he develops like I hope he has "ace" written all over him.

Anybody think Jeter will be worth his money this year? Or even Pujols, with all the cash LAA threw at him?

No, but very very few baseball players are actually "worth" their money after they become free agents. Just the way the system is.
Look at Verlander. Best pitcher in baseball. Made 12.5 million last year.
Sabathia, Santana, Zito, Zambrano, Halladay, Lee, AJ Burnett, Beckett and Tim Lincecum all made more.
Granted, JV will be making 20 million next year.

Jeter won't be. We'll be lucky if he plays close to as well as he did in the second half of last year.
Pujols might be worth it this year, but he'll never be worth the money they'll have to pay him into his 40's.

Ichiro out performed his sizable contract every year but last. Just sayin.
Then again Ichiro is a top secret government robot purpose built to leg out singles and win gold gloves while publicly refusing to dive for balls.

Generally speaking I see free agency as paying a player a ton of money for what they did for their former team.
Regarding Jeter, he got the money he got solely because of what he means to the Yankees and what he has done there throughout his career. He would have gotten MUCH less on the open market than what he got on his current contract.

Season needs to start already, argh. Hope Trevor Bauer becomes a starter this year. Lot to look forward to with Arizona.

I can agree with that. Besides, I don't think you could ever see Jeter as a weak player anyway. He has been solid for forever even after his injury.

It'll be close between them and the Giants. I think Arizona can take the West again this year if the Giants offense doesn't do well (slightly above average, i.e. they overperform), but after that it'll be really ****ing close. Gary Brown, Joe Panik, Francisco Peguero, and a few other interesting prospects will be on the team in 2013 in some role (Brown could easily be starting CF) and by then the Giants pitching prospects will be getting into double A and AAA.
Meija could be my next love, him and Hembree.
Hows the farm looking for AZ?

I'd also add that I'd prefer Sabathia's, Halladay's, Lee's, and Timmy's career to Verlanders up to last year

Well, they have three pitchers who are ranked in the top 25 overall of most prospect lists. Then they have like three more guys who are projected as either back end starters or solid bullpen arms. Their pitching depth is probably pretty close to the best in baseball right now. Hell, the first four starters in the rotation are Ian Kennedy, Daniel Hudson, Trevor Cahill, and Josh Collmenter. Ian Kennedy is oldest at 27. Trevor Cahill is only 23. If only one of their pitching prospects turns out a starter, they'll still probably be fine.
They're pretty weak for position players in the minors. But I'm pretty sure they'll be fine for at least four years because of how young the current players are.
