Problem with gun. PLEASE HELP
Hello. My friend bought a Viewloader Orion and there is some trouble. First, it won't recock on its own and the paint doesn't go very far when we shoot it. Please help. If you know a possibility on what the prob is please help.

Sounds like your tank is low or the bolt assembly needs maintenance. It could also be an improper velocity setting but that wouldn't start happening out of the blue.

Literally, not 20 minutes ago, I fixed this problem on my Viewloader Triton II. If you have the velocity set too high or too low, the gun will be unable to get enough gas to the striker and re-cock it. Make sure the screw is in about halfway, not too far in and not too far out. If that doesn't work, try slathering it with oil (not too much, but enough so that it moves freely). I'd check your tank, and if it's empty then you have the problem fixed. If it's full, make sure that the spring isn't overly weak, as mine was. If that's the problem, try swapping in a snipped Spyder spring and checking the buffer. That's my course of action. Let me know if any other problems arise!

or the bottom oring is gone which would also cause the problem.

Totally forgot about that...
Yesh, you might check that. If it's excessively worn or pitted, strip it off and replace it with a standard tank O-ring (Viewloaders are designed to function with standard tank o-rings, as well as Piranha's and Spyder's o-rings.) Keep it really well cleaned and oiled, the lower tubes are notorious for wearing themselves into oblivion...
Good luck!

The striker requires a special type of Oring to function at 100%.
However, if it doesn't make a burping sound(like it is going full auto for a few seconds) it is most likely the velocity adjuster is screwed in too tight.

Just give the marker some TLC and it will be fine. Also take it to your local pro shop if you need more help.

No, even without any oil the gun should still cycle.

As Paper-Cut said, the striker uses a special grade of o-ring to work 100%, but it will work just fine with just a simple tank o-ring. Paintman15, if you can take apart a Spyder or a Piranha, you can take apart a Viewloader. All of those markers have the exact same stacked-tube system, and Tippmanns are little different (inline tube rather than stacked. Same system). What I would suggest doing is a step-by-step analysis of the marker.
1. Check the air. If it's low, then it won't cycle properly.
2. Check the velocity adjuster. Too far in and it will be too tight to let the gun recock. Too loose and the valve won't open long enough to blow it back.
3. Check the o-rings. Make sure that the striker o-rings are intact.
4. Check for oil/debris. If it won't cycle, there could be debris in the lower tube restricting the striker's movement. Oil will also help. The more oil you can put on, the better. It will drastically reduce wear and improve re-cock speed.
5. Check the cupseal (if all else fails). The cone on the front of the gun allows you to access the valve assembly. Make sure that the cupseal is intact.
Good luck!
