True. I've loved my FIFA and owned a lot of shooters from EA.

They've got their name on some pretty good games.

But every big game they have their hands on, they try to pull some BS to squeeze more money out of their customers.

Edit: So Ninja, you've got a good understanding of the consequences of the decisions you make in ME1/ME2, ce?

I get choked up every time I see the live action commercial. Sniff Sniff.

Yup.
At least EA will occasionally give money to a new IP. Even Activisions top stables can't get leeway to try new things. Now look what they have Treyarch doing. Not even a new Call of Duty with a new time period and story, but Black ****ing Ops ****ing 2.

The FPS genre in general is downright depressing.

True, it would help if those with good ideas actually could make a good game. I'm looking at you, Brink.

Battlefield 3 would have been drastically better than what it currently is if they had simply re-skinned BF2 on the Frostbite 2 engine.

Ninja... any decisions on ME2 DLC affect anything on ME3? I haven't played all the DLC yet... except the Arrival. I'm waiting till the weekend to play them... including the Arrival again.

Just finished my second play through of ME1, and completed MOST of the side missions. I am now gonna have to kick some *** to get all the way through ME2 again before ME3 drops.

I really like Mass Effect as a series and I generally enjoy the gameplay, but several aspects of the series make me rage.

Warning: the following rant may contain spoilers.

Mass Effect 2 had me raging in so many ways. Typical conversation in ME2, "HERP DERP SHEPHERD WHY ARE YOU WORKING FOR TEH CERBERUS?!?!?!?!" and the only way I could actually respond was "BUT HERPUS DERPUS, IT IS THE ONLY WAI TO STOP TEH REAPERS!1!!1!!!!" when in all actuality ME1 made me ****ing hate Cerberus and I wanted to ****ing kill every cerberus bastard I came across. For anyone who has played ME2, you know you are pigeon holed into working (AND DEFENDING) Cerberus in the game. Would it seriously have been that much work to let me continue to work for the alliance? What if you let me say I was working for the alliance by only getting intel about the reapers from cerberus?? Or what if the illusive man pretended to be the shadow broker and tricked me into working for Cerberus?? Or just program two distinct story lines into the game to maximize playability? Or do something like in KOTOR, where even at the last second you could switch from the dark side to the light side and vice versa if you had created enough relationships with the characters. Maybe with Shepherd, when my allegiance with certain party members is high enough towards the end of the game I can convince certain members to break with Cerberus.

And now, ME3. Played The Arrival, hated it. "HERP DERP SHEPHERD IS HERE NOW, GO THERE AND KILL KILL KILL!!!", "OH HAI, SHEPHERD IS THERE NOW, GO THERE AND KILL KILL KILL". This felt like the prison scene in ME2 all over again, except in the prison there is actually a reason the warden kept coming over the comlink, prisons are supposed to have lots of security. Story was decent, missing a little something from ME2, but it is a DLC afterall. But how does it affect ME3 you ask? As the result of having no choice but to stop the reapers from using the Alpha Relay, you are "supposedly" court martialed and stripped of your official duties and you are now a pencil pusher on Earth. WHAT??? You mean after you forced me to join Cerberus, get a cool new ship with tons of upgrades, get a bunch of people working for ME (and not the ****ty bureaucratic alliance), Shepherd somehow decided to voluntarily go back and be court martialed? Both choices in the last conversation with Admiral Hackett in The Arrival alluded that Shepherd had no choice in being stripped of her title and must therefore give up EVERYTHING with Cerberus, and I mean EVERYTHING. Now, maybe the "good" Shepherd would give everything up to be court martialed, but why the **** would the "renegade" Shep decide to give up cool toys and no bureaucracy to go back to sitting at a desk?

This is along the same lines as to why I will never buy SWTOR. I was a huge SWG fan and was really happy to get into the SWTOR beta. Much to my dismay, the early quests had only 2 choices you could choose from. What happens when I feel that logically choice A and B are ****ing stupid and I should be able to choose choice C, D, E, or F?

This wouldn't bother me so much if the game weren't billed and marketed as a role playing game. Again, let me restate that I really enjoy playing the game and I will be playing ME3 over and over again. But call it what it really is. It is not a complex role playing game with "over 1000 distinct variables" that have any substantial affect on the gameplay. Its a very simple theme park shooter that tells a story. Even though the story is told in a dynamic and exciting way, the story is predetermined by the devs and there is little room for you to add your own flair by playing a "role" in the game.

I don't really care who is playable squad mates, I just care about who is in the actual story, and that they aren't just in it for a few minutes. Like Ashley in ME2.
