Pads that work with/or replace a knee brace?

Back in September I broke my knee (broken patella and torn, but not broken Menisiscus) and I'm just now gettting back out there. I currently wear a neoprene, hinge brace and I've already noticed it hindering my play.

I find them the be too contraining, and with it on, it's a bit harder to slide on that leg.

Has anyone found a good pair of pads that fit over a brace, or know of one that acts like a brace with padding?

This is what I'm wearing: (lol no, those aren't my pasty white legs)

Maybe you can try getting some that are twice your size. So if you normally wear large get 2xl and see if they fit.

Yeah I was kinda thinking about that. Thanks though!

I'm just hoping to hear that they have some special padded braces out there.

You would need either really large pads, or what I do is I wear a pair of jeans under my paintball pants, with just a smaller knee brace to help keep pressure off would work I'd imagine.

I ruptured my MCL early last season and wore that SAME brace. I had a compression wrap underneath and just wore the brace. Not sure what position you play but i play D's and snake and i had no issues.

Hmm I wonder how the compression wrap will treat me then. I'm usually D side myself.

I'll probably just ask a sports medicine doctor for advice too.

i tore my acl a year ago and had it repaired and i currently have to wear the big metal donjoy brace. I use valken pads and just slip it right over top of the brace. after you break it in i hardley notice it. i think it just takes getting used to wearing a brace. yea it restricts some movement but just break it in and use it alot and you should be alright

You sure you should be sliding and running after a knee injury?

Ok now that that's outta the way. Try getting some volleyball kneepads to wear over your brace. I wear them when I play anyways it might just work.

Doesn't make him a troll, that just makes him an idiot.

A good troll doesn't get users mad at himself, what he does is bring up a topic that will users mad at each other. Most of the time it's a new spin on a hotly debated topic.
For example: comparing Kee with smartparts, both sued a company out of business(Kee sued draxxus over the pulse), and saying Kee(empire, as well as a few other companies) is ruining paintball the same way smartparts did, except Kee is getting away with it.
See how quickly that will spiral as several members take sides? It's all opinion, so one side or the other can't really win. But people feel passionately about it none-the-less, and thus the flame war begins as the "troll" sits back and watches.

The Dye kneepads are very nice. They are very cushy and fit great. I would recommend that you try those.

Thanks. I've been using cheap volleyball pads for years, but I may have to actually buy some paintball ones now haha.

Already got plenty, but thanks. I found JT Teams to be the friendliest on my brace.

I spoke to a Sports Medicine doctor today, and in case anyone else is interested, there are knee braces that actually have padding built on.

A company called Don Joy makes them. They're designed to help support the joint t prevent reinjury, and they're covered with a gel cushion like a knee pad.

Of course, if you're at my state, and still wearing the massive budget-bionic brace, then the Don Joy pads can't provide enough support just yet.

I tore my ACL last year and I used to wear the same brace(McDavid) until my sister who is a physical therapists said that it doesnt do anything to help prevent my ACL from tearing again. Because if wont stop your knee from shifting from side to side. It might feel that way but it doesnt because you need a longer support from you ankle to upper thigh. Kind of like the brace they give you after surgery. The best way is to strengthen it through your therapy. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Thanks. I was told somewhat the same thing. I just noticed that if I don't wear the brace, after a couple hours of play I can feel my knee getting sensitive and tender, but with the brace I last all day.

I felt the same way before. But I think it is a mind issue. Its all in your mind cause the brace doesnt do much. Dont worry I was the same way bro. Good luck to you.

Re:Pads that work with/or replace a knee brace?

Best place to start looking is your local medical supplies store. They usually have tons of braces, as well as knee pads. Have you thought about just wrapping extra gauze around it to make it fit?
