Meh, that's a myth for the most part, kind of like how all the **** wads in afghanistan think the Air Force gets substandard living pay over there...gullable people are gullable.

The substandard living pay is a myth, but I am a single soldier under E-7 so I am forced to live in the barracks in my particular unit. What I have is a 10'x10' room that I share with another soldier. It comes with 2 wall lockers per person, a fridge, and a bathroom to share (not included in the dimensions).
The Air Force soldiers, however, each have their own larger rooms, real closets, a desk, a lamp, their own bathrooms, and a kitchenette shared between two people. This has been the standard across the board for most posts with joint services.

idk....at andrews AFB(Joint base) the navy dorms are the best...so. idk man it's just where you are. sure the odds are we have nicer ammenities but that doesnt make our rooms the best thing since sliced bread. hell...I personally like my little hooch in afghanistan better than my dorm room at Andrews AFB.

Out of entire battalion just the scout platoon was stood up last night, we had to help evacuated family's from USAFA area move into barracks. Of course I got a phone call at 11 saying GET READY WE ARE GETTING RECALLED TO GO FIGHT FIRES. Get to work and we end up being taxis for people.
The fire chief was asked a question by a reporter who wanted to know since there's so many military people in the area why they cant use us to help with the fire. His response was we have not attended a 40 hour course on fire fighting

My point was any barracks are better than army barracks. Well.. I actually have never been on a Marine post so I can't speak on that behalf.

2/5 barracks on pendleton has legitimate holes in the walls of most rooms.
My old barracks in 29 had mold everywhere, and the water was non-potable.

nope i'm married
it works different in canada when you're full time (i'm going part time right now for the record in case your not sure)
first three months if you're a single soldier, you must live in barracks, then you can move out.
our barracks are pretty awesome compared to yours that's for sure.
it's like i dunno 25x25 maybe? maybe a bit bigger? that's for two people. plus you've got a shared bathroom and a kitchenette in each wing of the shacks.
i also had a desk and a chair for the room.

Barracks at SWCS aren't too bad. I don't mind it. Obviously smaller than having my own apartment, but at the same time, I really can only say I sleep here and such and therefore don't need much. So... free rent. Shower is always steaming hot, and the AC keeps our place around 60* all year. Not bad as far as I'm concerned.

My barracks don't even have AC. It's hot as hell right now. They certainly are screwing us over here if that's what other army barracks look like.
