anyone live near Danville VA?

hey guys, totally off the paintball topic here, but anyone live near, or have lived in Danville? I just got a (very good) job offer with Goodyear, and since it's such a small community I'm having a hard time finding people who actually know anything about the area. I've found all the typical data like housing cost, income, blah blah blah, but I'd really like to get a sense of what the community, people, social activities, ect are like.

So please, help a brother out

I did motorsports engineering in college, but i still couldn't move out to dansville reguardless how close it is to VIR! What type of projects are you going to be working on?

I been out there a few times and there dosn't seem to be a whole lot going on other than whatever is going on at VIR. What is sad is most ppl who race aren't even from that area. They commute from NoVA, Richmond, Hampton Roads, and NC cities.

Check out City Data forums to figure out wth is going on out there.

already checked out city data. a few discussions from a few years ago, but i'd really like something a bit more recent.

I'd be working on the process engineering for aircraft tires

There just isn't much out there truthfully, thats why its a perfect spot for a race track resort and a tire manufacture. If your not into motorsports, you should get into it. VIR is one of the most bad *** race tracks on the east coast and its started to get recognized. ALMS will be having an event there this year.

Not sure what kind of life style you have been living, but its not a bad town. I've lived around here all my life. Good people, most of your major restaurants, some good locally owned restaurants, and a few good bars around that have live music. It's also close enough to Raleigh and Greensboro, NC if you want more entertainment.

I live in lynchburg and honestly I think the best part about Danville is the Bojangles and the Kangaroo gas station on the way to NC or SC.Honestly its like any other area its gonna have its good spots and bad spots you just gotta know where to be and where not to be.
