Interest in a Pump Series at Xtreme paintball CT

Hello there,

The Xtreme Shenanigans out of Xtreme Paintball CT were wondering if there are any people out there that would be interested in some 3 man pump tournaments this season. If so we will start making the arrangements. So if anyone is interested, please post here!

Thanks,
-Travis

With Gravity League and the NEPL it will be hard to set dates for a third 3 man pump series in New England.

Now if you could make it 5 man, Race-4, 12 minute matches, and limit paint to 2-3 pods per point I think you might get some takers. Of course I'd have a hard time choosing between playing and filming.

I do mean 5 man pump.

It'd be sick and most pumpers have a loaner. Let's grow the pump culture in New England.

I would play 5man pump sounds fun, Foxball has priority, but I would still love for 5 man pump to come around.

It'd be cool to do it street ball style as well IMO. That way you don't have whole teams backing out last second.

Yea, we were going to avoid a lot of the larger tournies and scenarios so that we can get max turnout. 5 man would be viable for street ball style, but prob not for organized teams. The NEPL had very few 5 man pump teams when they tried it, but as soon as they did 3 man they had a bunch of teams. There are only 2 gravity leauge events last year, and NEPL has 5 very well spaced events, so I do not think over saturation would be a big deal. Plus we want to keep the cost down to get more people interested, and no one like paying tons of money to have fun. Race to format, might be an option depending on number of teams. We have tried them before at the field and they never seem to work out well, and we like every team being able to play every team at least once. If we keep seeing interest we can possibly use this season to try a couple formats, maybe one event will be a 5 man, another a 3 man, maybe a street ball one as well. Thanks for all the input, keep it coming.

Race 2 format needs to be run by someone who has exp with it and or has played it. This is why it did not work last time, but this is the past. New better things for 2012.

Yea, I know that much of the staff did not really know the format (including myself), most shens that have played tournies play the NPPL format. The ones who did know the race to 2 format were trying to explain to a lot of people who didnt, and the confusion caused a mess. That combined with the long walk to air fills and paint made the events drag on.

But that is another discussion. If you would like to continue talking about the format for CAPL I would contact the whoever is going to be running and maybe some consensus could be made there, or talk with the store owners.

Anyway, back to pump, cause that's what we are hear to talk about.

Ok 4 man streetball Race-4 12 minute matches split into 2 halves.

Still limit paint maybe in tactical format, like each team can only carry out X amounts of paint.

You guys should do a race to 2 like the NEPL 5 mans were you play each team in a best of 3 series but not back to back games

Will take formats under advisement. My real question is, would you all be interested in playing some pump tournaments regardless of format, as long as they do not conflict with other major events?

I'd be interested, but I've sold my pump guns. Would have to borrow one, even a pistol suffices. Might consider another pump in the future -- a couple nice ones on the market.

Problem for me is format is my tipping point.

If you can do something different, and efficiently, I'm in. If your just trying to build another 3 man pump series, myself personally would rather drive further to NEPL.

^^Being said, I love Xtreme, played there since All In began playing there. Let's do something different Shenanigans.

Well if it is a different weekend, and cheaper than NEPL, seems to be better than just random rec play. Would that make you want to come out?

Of course.

I'm just saying they should still do Raceto with a time limit so you know the matches won't get dragged out and keep the intensity up.
