Bump! :-)

How are those tests going? Do I need to send a few cases of paint over there to speed up the process?

I do wish he'd get one of these out to make me like the axe even more than I already do. The oring instead of the hard sealing face seems like a good idea... wonder what he's up to?

Posted on Lurker's facebook on January 6th. Blurred out photo with the following hint: "ITS NOT A TURKEY LEG. It involves... BRASS"

After seeing Lurker's LV1 tech video, I can only imagine Lurker bounced a few ideas off of Jack Wood of PE.

No offense to jack but that's not how it works. The only reason these aren't out is because I'm a lazy piece of crap

I'm confused. What does Jack Wood have to do with an aftermarket poppet for the Axe?

Is that what's also keeping us from getting .672 Eigenbarrels? I honestly want a smaller bore Eigenbarrel more than the new poppet, but I would love to give you money for both.

I want a larger bore barrel like a .690 for paint that swells here in the hot summer. .684 works for me most of the time... I really want the poppet on the first page. It seems to have a lot of promise at improving efficiency AND lowering pressure.

I think he said a ~.689 would be released along with the .672. I know he said he was also making a larger bore than .684. I honestly never need anything larger than my .681 Tightstick, but it usually isn't too hot or humid here in the summer.

Honestly it's the only barrel I really like. I've cleared my bag of everything else and just run them. Right now when the paint swells I use the stock barrel or a 2-piece proto boomstick. I don't usually ever see paint roll through my .678.

BTW, he has .678 and .684 which is .006 difference so .684 + .006 = .690 and .678 - .006 = .672. Just a guess. Also, since not everyone likes to underbore then I think it'll open his marketability a bit.

I was wondering why the portion that slide on the bolt guide was shorter. I guess it would cause less drag but I also wonder how stable it would be while cycling. Is the extra length/less volume meant to increase the pressure to open the poppet?

That's exactly what I'm planning on for the next batch (.672 and .690)

I was speculating that during Lurker's correspondence with Jack Wood regarding the LV1, specifically the new poppet design, they bounced ideas off of each other that may have led to some inspiration on the side of Lurker working on the Axe poppet.

I can't say for certain but that appears to be a logical explanation for the protrusion. If the tolerance of the back part is tighter then you could run it shorter too. I suppose we'll have to see, but the bolt works so well I'm sure he knows what he's doing.
