Great practice. It is good to get most everyone together for once. The weather certainly cooperated. Everyone needs to get a barrel swab. Make sure your guns are charged before you get here for the next time.

Tentatively this is what I was thinking:
4/29 (PA team at JAW)
5/5-5/6 (Entire team at JAW)
5/13 (Off)
5/20 (Full team in OH)

OH guys do you think we could have the USPA layout set up? Does the field you play at have the updated snake?

EDITED:

5/20 won't work in Ohio for me. I'll be in Minnesota for a wedding. We could try 5/13 (but I understand this would be rough after the weekend with Tim).

I know I plan on playing the weekends of 4/29 and 5/13 in Ohio (and hopefully those two weekends are good with the other Ohio guys).

Last I heard, they were supposed to get the updated snake this past weekend.

it might be a good idea to take what we gain from the weekend 5/5-5/6 and apply it asap with new competition in OH the following weekend. just an idea.

also, if XCAPE doesn't have the new snake elbow, we can substitute a deflated and bent regular beam (they had this set up at vintage paintball park and it was okay).

Max is going to talk to XCAPE to confirm being able to set up the USPA layout

Other than that, the schedule with either the 13th or 20th in Ohio work for me.

I still am waiting for Jon, Gary, Matt C and Jordon (Got his today) to send me this information. This has to be in the end of the week. Or you will not have ID Card and you will not be playing in the first event. (League not me)

For the whole Team make sure you check your hydro dates on all of your HPA Tanks. I would not be happy if we get to the first event and you could not play do to expired tanks. I can get them done here in Erie for about $28 plus tax.

John, could you forward all of the team info to Matt or I to put together a contact list? It could help us out in coordinating things and getting everyone on the same page if we distribute a contact list to the whole team.

Practice Re-Cap

Hey guys, just thought I would post a re-cap about last practice and mention a few things in anticipation of next practice.

First of all, thanks everyone for your efforts and for making sure things ran smooth. Also, big thanks to Joe and Houk for helping out.

Session 1:

I think these individual-skill drills went pretty well. We all have a few things we can work on. The most common we should all keep in mind being:
  • Tighter, sharper and more strategic gun fighting
  • Running and gunning

Session 2:

With the exception of the off-the-break drill, I think these drills also went pretty well. Next practice we can probably emphasize the 30 second point and 2 vs 5 drills more.

Something we will be sure to include with the 30 second point drill next time is after each 30 second point our lines will re-group and go over a snap-shot of the point at the 30 second mark. This means the whole line will go over what the G and O counts were and the positioning of everyone on the field. Practicing gaining ground and full "vision" of the field efficiently will give us huge advantages in winning points.

For the 2 vs 5 drills, I definitely think we can be more aggressive and methodical in closing points. I am sure we will all get a better feel for this as we continue to play the layout.

I think, as a team, where we can improve most during points is communication. And again, I am sure we will improve as we play more together.

So, just to summarize Session 2, the two things to keep in mind for next practice include:
  • Communication
  • Closing games like a boss

In anticipation of next practice, we will probably focus more on full line drills and scrimmaging points. Sooner than later, we will have to get warmed up to the format and pace of USPA X-ball again so we will have to stage actual matches once our lines are established.

That's about it. If anyone has anything else to add, definitely post. And if anything comes to mind for suggestions with the next practice, definitely post it.
