Yeah, but the thing they wanted to make work better was the power consumption. So, take the screens we have now, and make it so a small solar strip around the outer edge of the screen is enough power.
The ones on Science Channel were powered only by the input signal with a boost from a watch battery.

if I was to buy a new TV right now i'd be buying the XBR10 3D 240HZ Full Array LED 52", imo one of if not the nicest TV's on the market at the moment
otherwise i'd wait to see what Pioneer is going to come out with now that they are back in the TV business
technology is all about getting thinner/smaller, and by doing so you can upgrade all aspects, but it's pretty much pushing the limit as of now, to think back 5-6 years ago when my family paid $4200 for a 52" Flat panel rear projection LCD TV thats about 2 feet deep, to now when i picked up my Sony 40NX711 for 699 which is 3/4 of an inch thick at it's thickest, things obviously come down in price as competition arises
the best TV's on the market however have hovered around 2800-4500 for the last 4-6 years however

Did you even read my post? 5-6 years ago? And if your talking about the rear projection part, I'm referring to the style of Tv's from those years ago where your bulb, color wheel, and backlight are all behind the screen making it have that depth as opposed to today's TV's
Not sure where the misunderstanding is

I dont think the hologram thing will ever play out because of the same problem as projectors, You cant see them in too much light.
We arent too far from flexible displays becoming commercially available. Roll up your tv and take it with you?
