Well, you can't steal ideas from other companies in paintball or else you get sued. I try to create these things within the realm of dye's current designs because they probably own patent rights in some form or another to it.

totally agree with your thread. love macroless guns. but can i ask a question about the lpr. mainly you want them to put the lpr between the reg and grip frame? so kinda just like the marq series(6-rapper). it would be cool to see this but i cant see dye using something by bob long. just my opinion

if you look at the pm8, they already did this before with their sister company proto. So they arent really copying bob long in a sense that would get them in trouble patent wise. Especially since they are using their own lpr design

Thanks for the concern frodoAKA187 but let them take it, thats why i posted it up here for them to hopefully see it and use it. They have the patent rights to most of the individual components (lpr design, bolt design, board and asa) except the reg and if they copy the reg or reg tester idea, then hopefully i get some credit and hopefully a free marker when it comes out. Maybe if im lucky they would let me test one before the release. They would still have to do all the engineering and the costs for it. All i really want is to see this thing come alive and have one in my hands.

yeah, any dye reps out there that cant post in here, just pm me if you guys see this and are atleast considering pushing it forward.

as long as dye does something cool for 2013, ill be happy.

Haha...Dye...same gun for how many years now? Aside from the anno and adding in the eyepipe for easy breaking, has anything every changed on it? I love their Rotor and the i4s, but they need to do something new besides an ASA, new lpr position each year, and improved (but still easily broken) eyepipes. Not trying to flame or hate on you guys for shooting Dye guns cause they are smooth, but I think Dye is in the stone age with their gun...

I don't think so... what has really needed to change? You could say the same about any marker. The egos have had miniscule changes since their inception in 05. The gas thru would be nice.. the quick strip was a bit overdue. And really I shot an NT with the original eye pipe for over a year and a half. Just don't over torque your barrel and you will be fine

Well not litraly steal , but look in that direction and make it look like we came up whit it or just pay the fee for using that patent if so be it .

it wood save a lot of work having the reg at the asa , and just having the lpr in the hpr spot ...

Agreed, but I think people will want to keep the hprs upfront just for the continuity.. if someone could make a small reg that was the bottom line then fine.. but there is a reason the mini reg is so huge

Does a short centered macroline ever get in the way of anything during a game? Not really. Once your macroline and fittings are installed properly do they leak often? Not really. Does a macroline setup add weight? Not really.

If you modify the design of the frame and body and add more internal seals to the mix, it could potentially make the gun less comfortable, slightly heavier, and more prone to leaks.

Not to mention over the years there have probably been 100 times I've gassed a gun up with the frame off to pinpoint a leak, where I've only had to fix a leaking macro fitting about a dozen times.

Macroless guns are trendy, they really aren't any better.

yeah. i've had a ton of macro leaks and it gets on my nerves like crazy. thank god my dm12 hasnt developed the issue. but as i have stated, it would be a high end option for guys that want it. even you mention that it is "trendy" which is pretty big when it comes to business. paintball is all about trends and what is hot... actually all of marketing really boils down to that point. Macroless guns are in demand, as a company you want a product with high demand. At this point, macroless is a positive selling point over macro (you dont have to take my word on it, look at 90% of new guns released today).

it is not a dm replacement but a complement to the series that helps cover more of the paintball market and for guys like me, a trendy fun gun that would be fun to shoot.

edit - maybe i suck at cutting macro lol.
