Not until that first time you land wrong and crack your elbow. Then you'll want em.

I've been wondering about these and knee pads. Are they worth the investment?

I never forget to put my elbow pads on, and if I forget the knee pads I know after hitting the corner once.

While they aren't necessary per se, you'd be an idiot not to wear them.

You want elbow pads. They not only protect you when you are diving, the sometimes can give you bounces.

I played for years and never touched a pad, didnt even wear paintball pants, just cargos. A buddy lent me a pair of elbows and I caught 3 bounces that day, bought myself a pair that night and never looked back!!

I wouldn't say they are necessary, but I would recommend them!

If your looking for something inexpensive, Invert pads are really cool. It has a huge padded forearm area extending past the elbow. I use something different now for better mobility, but I keep the Inverts around incase anyone who dosnt have gear wants to try paintball.

Elbow pads are good to have, if you have a good pair of pants you don't necessarily need knee pads but yeah Elbow pads are great to have for any kind of sliding especially into Snakeola.

Elbow pads and Knee pads. Yes. Especially Knee pads imo, I play front most of the time. I neglectfully didn't wear my knee pads one day and it made my already messed up hamstring worst! I was out for 1 month.

there are 2 things that are necessary on a paintball field:
goggles and paintballs. everything else is not "necessary"

I've seen people flinging paintballs at each other with their
bare hands, slingshots and whatnot, getting eliminations too

that said, your setup (including what you wear) is what you
feel most comfortable using as you play. I always wear knee
and elbow pads, pants. others play in shorts and wife beaters
whatever you feel that gives you extra confidence/comfort

This is what I do:

Knee Pads= I got some $1 knee pads off paintball online that were originally elbow pads, but to big! Between them and my empire pants, I dont need paintball specific pads!

Elbow pads= I am a big soccer guy, I took some left over shin guards, took the sleeve off of another pair, sewed them together, Sewed a strap to keep them in place! They are hard as a rock and wont get a bounce, but they will protect from rocks which is a plus! I normally wouldnt wear them if I just wanted bounces, but I am playing snake and it makes it 20x easier to play!

Sounds like it would kind of hurt diving into snake with shin guards on your elbow.. if I'm imagining it right. Plus you wouldn't be able to bend your arm in? Not sure how that works.

Elbow pads aren't really needed, but I prefer them since I do slide. But if you were like a back player, I'd stick with just knee pads. You just notice the difference in playing without them and with them.

If you played soccer, It would be easy to explain! I dont no if you do or not! I have a full range of motion! The shin guards are a very old pair and they are like solid plastic in 2 pieces, so they bend! They are extremely padded, and I feel that they are more comfortable than the empire elbow pads I tried on at the local store!
