You guys need to stop whining. This will separate the men from the boys in snake. Don't feel like getting shot in the head? Learn to snapshoot quicker. This takes away the ability to just camp in a knuckle and shoot crossfield the entire game.

The new bunkers also allow greater visibility when snapping because the damn knuckle isn't in your way anymore. Full visibility and no cracks to get shot through (yes it does happen. A lot).

Nice to see some older style bunkers coming back to modern paintball. This will really change things up a bit, maybe make the snake a bit slower like the old days with 10-man. A pain for field owners, but a new game for players. Hope to see this new snake slow down the game a bit.

A few facts, since people seem to be confused:

1. As of right now, the ONLY bunkers taken out of the curret design (both PSP & MS), is the 6 2011 giant beams - all other bunkers stay.

2. The new beams and angles have the same heigh as the 2011 beams, they are just narrower and shorter in length

What I think:

At the first event, they will try out this new snake design, the way it is intended.

Everyone will get shot easy over the top, and running them down will become way easier too.

Snake players will get focussed 90 % down the wire, because their only purpose becomes to get to the end of the snake, to shoot people in the back.... anywhere earlier in the snake, has become pointless.

The D side becomes way more dominant than before, and the field sides are no longer balanced.

Then:

After the first event, they will realise their mistake, and start putting cakes and Mini As in the snake again.

There is ONE advantage to these new bunkers:

Once they realise they need the knuckles in there still, they will try to justify the existence of the angles by making weird snake shapes, like an M shape or a diamond.... like it used to be in Hyperball - and those shapes WILL mix up the game a litte more

As for field owners: Sucks to be you - it's crazy that the leagues keep doing this crap

As for getting shot through gaps: There are still gaps there, only now, they are not covered by a knuckle, so anyone cross the field can blast away at the gap between the beams.

In this photo you are looking at it from the spectator side .....so the flat or "smooth" side is faceing in just like any other snake .......

PSP had a diamond in Chicago 08 with regular beams and small Doritos I think.. They should do that again twas sick.

Only upside I see to this is not having a poorly constructed snake causing you to get shot in between the gap that spans where the knuckle and beam connect. On the downside, this is going to absolutely blow because snake corners can now send a lane over the top of the snake preventing you from making a crossfield shot the whole game, practically eliminating the objective of a snake player. Looks like it will be snake snap-shooting battles the whole game

looks exciting, unfortunately most fields wont have these in time to practice for TX but I guess everyone will be in same boat. It is nice to see them changing things up a bit, I like creative layouts, it makes people adapt to the field.
