I'm all for original takes on just about anything, but none of this stuff is original and in terms of its quality, people who know a lot about metal or punk (the same people that come off as elitist to you) just laugh at these bands because they aren't aggressive (when they try so hard to be) and they really don't really deserve any recognition. The only excuse for putting out music this bad and manufactured sounding is to cash in on it, but again, so many of these bands don't really make money. So, bad music= no respect. In the world of aggressive music, these bands are the glam metal of right now. They are pop versions of actual hardcore and metalcore for people who can't handle (for whatever reason) the real thing. Its made easy to digest and basically eliminates an extremely important element of the music: the passion behind it.

And none of this is a personal attack on anyone. I'm sure there are plenty of good people in these bands. However, when I think that a band's music sucks, I feel the need to say so.

I just heard their newest track today, I'm beyond stoked for their new album.

So stoked for the new album! I'll be seeing them for my fifth time in Spokane on wednesday.

If they're making the cool-aid, I'm drinking it.

IMO this branches out to more than just defending Skrillex, i think it should be applied to almost anything and even some of the conversations on this thread, it makes you step back and think. i kind of have always felt the same way, my classic example being im not a big fan of jimmy hendrix but i can apreciate that he is a sick old school guitarist

What in the ****?

Anyway, thanks for all the arguing for the last four or so pages of this thread. I think I'm starting to get it. Honestly, **** everything about modern metalcore and deathcore: bland music, boring breakdowns, but mostly the absolutely retarded aesthetics. I still like a few bands, such as This or the Apocalypse, but this is a really stale genre of watered down music and clones of clones of clones. Post-hardcore is absolute **** too, perhaps definitely even worse than metalcore/deathcore. I have always hated how most of the people in this scene act and dress like emo ******s.

Anyway, the metal elitists of this forum are obviously trolls, but they know their **** when it comes to music history. Please, for the love of god, know and understand where the music you listen to comes from, what its foundations are. Then, I think you will at least see why the metalheads call it washed-up and generic, even if you will continue to like it and listen to it.

I listen to music to enjoy it, not to understand its foundation or where it came from. Call me ignorant, but I think you guys are getting a little too into the music and its obscuring your view of music. It's all about expression; it's a shame that these modern generic bands are just in it for money/looking cool. It really makes the scene look bad.

That being said, I just discovered Periphery and i'm in love.
