iamamartianchurch, i was wrong about hitman, it is in fact you who is the coolest kid on the internet

this is the kind of stupid crap that makes people look at folks in the metal scene and think 'they are a bunch of losers' because your metal is more brutal than my metal... to me if all you can do is argue that that your bands are better than mine then you are just a 12 year old who wants to anonymously act tough on the internet, just like on any of these bands youtube vids, if you dont like this brand of music, dont comment in here? mind blowing, i know...
They're not saying that these bands aren't metal because they're not heavy enough. Its because they literally aren't metal. Any sort of "core" band is decended from punk. The post hardcore scene traces its roots back to bands like Fugazi. And even though I try to avoid insulting people's musical tastes online, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, go listen to some legit melodic hardcore before you get stuck on generic stuff on AA and AA! Check out Counterparts, The Ghost Inside, Defeater, Betrayal, Stray From the Path, Volumes and Have Heart. It will be life changing...and heavy...

counterparts and the ghost inside sound like the epitome of post harcore, good ****, i really dug betrayal- they had a neat hatebreed/bury your dead sound, stray from the path was SICK reminded me of old dillinger escape plan or like old tony danza tapdace extravaganza but with a cool twist to it i will DEFIANTLY be listening to more of them.

with what you said what is your take on bands like bury your dead and stick to your guns? do you listen to anything heavier, meaning on the deathcore side, like impending doom, or oceano? THIS is the kind of conversation i was looking for

I don't really listen to deathcore, except for some Acacia Strain, but I'm not sure what genre that would fall under. Stick to your guns is pretty sick but I haven't listened to Bury Your Dead yet. I know their vocalist does some guest vocals on the new TGI album, so I'll check them out

the acacia strain is a great band i would place them with metalcore, but thats just me. I was lucky enough to see them with impending doom august burns red and my children my bride... wasnt a huge fan of MCMB but i like all the others that were on that lineup

Great...you again. How about we try this? You listen to whatever you want to listen to, and I'll listen to whatever I want to listen to. Stop being a troll and go do something more productive. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its not creative. If you think Counterparts is generic, then I have no words for you. No other band sounds like them, period. If you want to have an intelligent discussion about our differing views, I'm more than willing to do so, but if you just want to be and ******* then **** off. Music needs fewer elitist ****s like you.

lol'd.

Counterparts is generic melodic metalcore. Probably signed to Victory Records.

I was mostly lol'ing at you calling it heavy.

Have Heart is all right. I'm not crazy about them but I appreciate what they've done for hardcore, positive scene and ****, but they're nothing special is terms of music. Generic lyrics on top of generic riffs, backed by unoriginal drumming. don't even need to mention the bass, all he does is chords to back up the guitar.

OP, you'll probably like this
