Your Mini already shoots as well as a paintball gun can shoot, provided you're using quality paint and you maintain the thing. A high-end gun will be higher quality and have more bells and whistles. It might even make you feel cooler and thus you'll be a little more confident. But it won't get you any more eliminations or win you more games.

You'll have to develop your SKILL for that. Class dismissed.
I have a 2011 Azodin Blitz upped with clamping feedneck and CP barrel, and the above is why I can't understand why I need to upgrade to a $500+ gun except that I really really want one. Can anybody get this monkey off my back?

For your first gun don't get a high end gun. Get a mid range gun. When you break it because you blew up the solenoid you will pay for $50-80 for a new solenoid as compared to $140+. Mid range guns tend to be less finicky since they are less precise making them easier to maintain and diagnose. Get a Reflex or Drone DX or perhaps an Etek 3 AM. Get used to the gun, learn everything you can about it. Once you are proficient at maintaining it and understanding it's every quirk, then get another mid range gun from another company. Learn that one inside and out. Get a spool valve gun first. They tend to be easier to fix than most poppets. Get a poppet (Etek) next. Use each gun for at least 3 months. Now you have experience with both types of guns and you can decide which you like better. By then you are ready to get that high end gun and can probably keep it in good shape and not break it.

YES. Just play with an ion or G4 or something if you're gonna play recball. Get a pump even but if you're gonna go out and buy a G6R or a CSL and you play rec ball then people will look down on you for sure. At least that's my experience because I know some people like that.

not true at all. all because you have a g6r or a csl doesn't mean you will be looked down upon when you play rec ball. If anything, it would make you look more intimidating if anything. Just be like me, Im not that great, i stick to a 98 because that's the skill level I'm on.

That's kind of a poor attitude. What if they've been playing for 10-15 years, and like the gun? I can def understand some little spoiled kid running aroudn with a Geo for his first gun

Any who, like he said, I'd grab an Ion or Pump. You don't need anything too fancy unless you have to up the competition. It is a bit pointless to spend $1,000 on a gun that's designed for tournaments today, when an old Bob Long will shoot great for $200.

The only reason I might possibly look down on a newbie with expensive high end gear is if their PARENTS BOUGHT EVERYTHING. They just look really spoiled.

You, on the other hand, worked hard for your money so I would respect that.

This ^ especially if you are super young. But who cares? As long as you have the skills to play your equipment isn't going to limit you at all.

Well here is the thing, if you are just going like 3-4 times a month why not just get a mid end or something? But if you are hitting the fields like 2-3 times a field I see a good point in owning a high end. Heck even if you go 3 to 4 times a month an older used high end might work well (used G6R, 08-09 ego, vice, marq, ect.). Remember its 90% player, 10% equipment. I'm thinking this on the budget side, so if you want to blow money who gives a F get a Ego 11 for all I care /rant

get a used ego 7, tear it apart after every time you play and clean it. once you think your ready to upgrade again then get something a little more pricey.

Getting a g6r for your first highend marker could prove to be a nightmare if you dont have the right regulator, grease, pressure tester, and understanding of the operation of bob's guns.

just my 2 cents
Even some tournament players cannot maintain their equipment and are a pain in the ***. Just ask this ^^^ guy how markers he has had to maintain for his teammates.

I think it's great when recballers buy "better" gear. It gives them a head start if they want to get into tournament play. My only annoyance is when some has gear (regardless of price range) and obviously doesn't take care of it or doesn't take the initiative to learn how their gear works.

What is wrong with that? Just because their parents bought everything shouldn't mean that they're spoiled brats. By the way, they're not spoiled, you're just jealous. Jealous because someone else bought them their $800+ gun and you just had to actually work to get it. It's ok, you don't need to deny it. It happens to everyone.

I don't purchase most of my stuff. My father bought me my Axe and and a few other things. And I consider myself a pretty cool person. But judging me because my father bought my Axe is just ignorant and self-centered.
