Importing from camera or card reader

Hey I'm new to the whole filming thing. I just purchased a 5d and plan on making short films with it. I've heard that it's somehow better to import material through a card reader rather than importing material with the card in the camera. Is this actually true, and can someone tell me why?

Yes it is better. It is better because a card reader just is. Its less use of your camera and less wear and tear over all. Also the information is stored on the cards. You will need multiple cards if you are shooting video and you should anyways just so you dont have everything stored on one card in case of malfunction. Purchase a card reader and you will not regret it.
