Hero mechs are cash only but they don't have any real advantage over a regular mech besides looking cool and a slight bonus toward earning in game currency.

Or just appear on any tv show that decides it needs a train wreck and force us to watch what happens when a person has all the resources one needs to completely destroy themselves with drugs and no one who cares enough to stop them.

Apparently the *****in' Betty start up voice is in the game but can only be turned on by a config command. I'm at my parents for the weekend so I haven't got to try it, but apparently it's mainly a place holder voice and the real voice work will be included in an upcoming patch. Thought I'd pass along the info. Command is in the quote.

yes but im usually within 150m with my yen lo, and it puts a big grin on my face when i blast a jenners leg clean off. or sneaking up behind cats and taking an arm off, makes it pretty easy to take out a hunchys left torso too. i usually end up having to chase things down after they start running away. only complaint about the yen lo is it cant aim its right arm very well. it doesnt have the range of motion the other centurions do...and it doesnt have a missile slot either. youd think it would, all the others do, and its not even the most expensive. the cn9-d or whatever actually costs more with real money.

In the fiction, Yen Lo Wangs pilot had to remove one of the arm actuators to get the bigger AC20 to fit, and the missile bay had to be removed so they could put an extra ammo reserve in, since the AC20 used twice as much ammo as an AC10. It was built for the Solaris gladiator games, and wasn't really meant to be a true combat variant. Also in the novels, one blast from an AC20 could take out most mechs. I read one where Yen Lo Wang literally sheared a standard Centurions leg off with one AC20 shot. That kind of raw power doesn't really translate into the game. Though I have heard that the AC20 will most likely get some kind of buff soon.

makes sense, hopefully it will get a buff. then there will be a reason to lug the super heavy thing around. so far ive either stuck with the lbx 10 or guass in the right arm.

Yea the dev talking about the AC20 buff also said that the gauss will be getting some kind of nerf (but not in damage) so that choosing between the gauss and the 20 would be tougher.

3 lasers, 2 ac/5, 1 ac/10, and ams....sounds pretty cool actually. wonder if you could fit 2 ac10's and 2 large lasers instead.

at least there will finally be an alternative to a guasscat.

Interesting... There will be no true alternative to the gc until another mech can mount dual gausses in the torso. Haven't been on much lately, been distracted with new games. I should be back on sometime later this week, almost finished all the elites for 1 raven variant, need to grind the other 2 so I can get modules.

One guy on the forums said he was able to make a 3 gauss phract on a mechbay spreadsheet. However, it had only a 170XL engine and stock 3D armor. So it could only move at 43KPH and wasn't well armored at all. Plus it could only hold 2 tons of Gauss ammo, so it's endurance is really limited. Long story short, we might see some triple gauss phracts, but they won't be very effective.

I have a cataphract that I tool around with some, but I haven't had a lot of time to play and my Cbill reserves are a bit limited right now, so when I do play I tend to go with the Wang or my Founders mechs for the cbill boost. I think once I find a phract loadout I like, it could be a really good mech. Dragons are good as long as you don't brawl. They are faster than most mechs outside of lights, so you can run in hit them and run out. I just don't like Awesomes. They have a head that's too easy to hit, and just aren't really intimidating on the battlefield like an Atlas. If you want a direct fire support mech, I think you're better off with a K2.

I'll probably be on more in the next few days. I'm looking into joining up with a group so I have people to play with regularly. The one I'm "trying out" for seems ok, more laid back than a lot of clans, but their initiation process is still a little more in depth than I would like.
