I picked up a Raven when I hit 3m. You earn money so much faster in your own mech, provided you do something in the game. You don't have to get kills; can just spot and assist. I went from getting max 100k credits to getting nearly 400k credits per win.
I used the trial cata, got 5 kills, 2 assists, and made 102k. I used my Raven, got 1 kill, 2 assists, and multiple spots, and earned about 175k. Plus you start earning pilot xp and mech xp.

Nah. It really isn't bad. Even on maps where I only spot a few folks and then get gaussed in the face, I break even and make a little money.

Last match we had 3 afks, this is getting annoying, people in stock mechs spawning in for the 60k cbills.

Doesn't beat the time it placed a full 2 lances against 1 light mech. We spared him the embarrassment of running him down and gangbanging him and just capped his base.

save up for an XL engine, max out the armor, and replace the lasers with 4 mpulse lasers and it's a close range monster. I was missing armor and still took down an Atlas just by ducking in and out of the buildings on River City using that hunchback.

Finally found out where my stats are. I actually have a positive KDR. I wasn't expecting that, the game's brutal.
Also, it crashed on me for the first time in a long time while I was face to face with an enemy. I was literally one gauss shot away from a kill.

I may have to get founders so I can get a feel for the controls in beta... How are they compared to MW4?

Better. Your arm weapons move somewhat independently of your torso weapons, with separate reticle. That's probably one of my favorite new features. It's also the feature that makes using a joystick pretty much a liability. Other than that, it's pretty classic Mechwarrior. You still move like a walking tank instead of a soldier in a FPS. Also the different mechs feel noticeably different from another. So you can't just load up an Atlas with a huge engine and use it like as an armored scout. It will still turn like **** no matter how fast it is.

Does it have gay things like auto-torso tracking?

usrs?
It pretty much auto adjusted your torso so you could run circles around other mechs effortlessly. You still had to make adjustments aiming, but it took all the skill out of circle strafing.

Oh no, none of that. That was a thing? It's been a long time since I played another mechwarrior so I don't remember that.

Yea it was a standard "feature". I understand it in the sense of helping noobs not get their faces melted, but it took so much skill out of the game.
I'm curious as to how things will work when the inevitably introduce the Clans. Lances vs Stars and etc.

some were talking 16 vs 10 in lances vs stars but i think 10vs12 is much more fair unless the clans really are going to get that over powered.
this game dosen't really hold yyour hand much so far, they throw you right in with people that have been playing for months and its sink or swim.

In the lore, when the Clans first arrived a single Star would face roll entire companies. The IS was so ridiculously outclassed by the Clans it was pretty much a stroke of luck/genius that halted the invasion. However for the sake of balance, I'd bet it will be Binaries vs Companies, or they won't have genuine clans and make the Clan tech accessible to everyone and just leave things as is.

Some of the IS had Clan tech by the time the real invasion happened anyway. The Wolf Dragoon mercenary company was basically a Clan Wolf sleeper cell whose job it was to both gauge the IS's ability to repel an invasion and prepare them for it. So I'm betting that Clan mechs will be accessible to all, and they just play it fast and loose with the lore.
They haven't really touched upon the whole meta game they plan on implementing yet, beyond being able to choose which great house you want to align with. Which as of right now just decides what your avatar in the forums is and can be changed anyway.
Also, I read on the forums that destructible terrain WILL be in the game eventually. They just haven't implemented it yet.
Edit: Also, don't forget that in the lore, part of the reason the Clans rolled over the IS at first was because they not only outclassed the IS in terms of technology but every one of their Mechwarriors' training was infinitely better than most IS counterparts. In this game, you're playing against neckbeards whose life training stopped at the potty.
Double Edit: I also recant my statement from a few days ago saying I wasn't a huge nerd for the lore. Obviously I was lying.
