Thumbs up Agree or Disagree:

"If you're playing Pump correctly, your hand should never be on your regulator."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Bob Long said that, right?

I figured this would spark up a fun conversation.. I have an MVP somewhere in the process of being sent out and the lack of foregrip made me think..

Personally, I disagree. I think that the added comfort, form, and stability while posted, or even single shot snapping is a huge help.

I own many, many pumpguns.
I think only two even have regs and those are both WGP Snipers.

None of the sheridans have one, the 12G goes in the front of the lower tube.
None of the Phantoms use one, they run unregged although some are Vert air which is mounted like a reg would be.

As far as where your hand should be, I can't give you a positive answer.
I just tell folks to play the way they feel most comfortable.

For semi/electronic players that play pump, its generally an easier transition to hold the reg/front grip (like their normal setup)

For a pump player, they generally hold the pump handle.

Someone who plays with a pump =/= pump player...

i play about 1/2 and 1/2 and i always shoot holding the reg, got too used to doing that so holding the pump handle the whole time is too awkward for me

I hold the pump handle. Most pump tournaments I've played require you to hold the handle forward to chronograph. You may have issues with low velocity during game with snipers if you don't hold the handle forward...not sure about the new Bob Long gun.

And - It seems easier to me, but when I played semi...I kinda held just the top of the reg/barrel. Not down low like a lot of others do - felt more comfy and more controlled that way.

If you stop to think about it, you could have got at least to more shots off in the time it takes for you to reach up and grab the pump again.

But 1 great shot> 3 ok ones... Your not going to be able to shoot a lane vs a semi in a 1v1 so you need to make each single shot count

If you are moving, aiming, and analyzing the field correctly, it doesn't matter how you hold the gun.

The only time I put my hand on the reg is when I use the hitman mod on my empire sniper. And usually the only time I do that is when I'm shooting left handed, because I'm horrible pumping and shooting left handed. Right handed I'm always on the pump arm.

i disagree, it is whatever your preference is. i used to hold the pump handle, but now i hold the reg (using a hitman mod) and can shoot just as fast as when holding the pump. my reason for switching is because the marker is much quieter not holding the pump handle (no significant change in velocity). i do notice it is a little more difficult to make finer adjustments when holding the reg vs the handle.

With the MVP you are going to need to hold that pump handle forward because if you don't, you will have a significant loss in velocity. You will agree with me when you get your MVP in the mail.

I disagree. This is worse than the whole "I never AT because it's not pump play" attitude.

I own 3 pumps and not of them have a foregrip or reg. I don't play pump as much anymore, but I played it exclusively for 2 years and I still put my had where a reg would be. It's just comfortable to me.

Disagree.

Personally, it depends on the gun. When I was borrowing my cousins KP, I held the pump arm because it was natural, and the hitman mod for it sucks.

For my Empire Sniper, I have a hard time holding the pump arm forward because the hitman mod gets in the way. So, I use the hitman mod all day, every day. Its just comfortable and natural.

people hold them however they want. But the ones who hold the pump handle has an advantage on those who do not.

Never say never eh... Sometimes in tight spots I will hold the reg and brace the pump forward with my index finger. When I need to get uber tight in a bunker.

Also I will release the pump and hold the reg for attempting drop shots.

You only need to pump for each shot, to play pump correctly. The rest doesn't matter.
