Had a fairly unique shooting experience yesterday, got an assignment to go do a shoot for a local retail store who cater mostly to farmers/country people (cowboy hats, saddles, whips..though I guess those things aren't exclusive to farm stores)
and basically the job ticket just said shoot some interior shots, shots of the building, product shots, etc..fairly regular boring job for a website.
What I wasn't told though, is that they have a live pet crocodile that the owner really wanted to show off..having never seen a crocodile before, and being told by the store's staff that A) It hasn't been fed in almost a week, and B) The window's scratched to ****, so I'd have to go in without any protection, I was pretty excited. Once they threw the chicken at it it just sat there and let me get as close as I wanted.
I couldn't get in as close or low as I wanted though, it was still an elevated glass case, just minus one window so I could stick my arm and head in.

Found the sickest wall by my house today doing some street/walk around shooting, there's a local skate team that's been nagging me for photos for a couple weeks now, I think I'll shoot their portraits against it.
It's basically this for two blocks, completely covered.

First time ever processing something this way. Dicking around with Topaz Adjust. It's a 100% crop, so I didn't have much to work with. WWII weekend is going on here and the airport is two miles away. Lots of planes flying over.

Since school finished up I've had a little more time to play around and get out and shoot. These are far from perfect, but I had a blast none the less.
and this one just for fun..

hey fallen, if you want some ideas on what you can change...
1) make sure your horizon is straight, that'll improve that picture a lot! also, I might have centered her in the middle of the dock, not sure if I like diagonal line on the left side
2) i actually really dig, awesome facial expression/smile and good framing... would like to see others from the set on the tracks though, tracks are cliche but i dig em..
3) errr WHAT?! magic

Thanks man. I'm always looking for some critique! As for dock, I was limited on space because the light stand brackets didn't ship in time, so it was ghetto rigged to the max. But I will def. keep that in mind for when we go back out there!

ahh so you use strobes?? never messed with that, just work with natural light, much more freedom and easier

Gonna have to disagree that natural light has much more freedom, I find it to be the exact opposite.

freedom in the idea that you dont have to set anything up, and can shoot from any angle in any location without the hassle of setting up strobes
