Is this close to Detroit? When you get closer, if you have a few different dates, pm me and I can check our schedule.
From Detroit Metro its about an hour, give or take. It would be nice to get some known teams out to a fundraising event to raise money for, well any cause really. No one charity deserves donations more than any other so I imagine it would be preference to those hosting the tournament and donating proceeds.
No fields close to the metro area to host events forced to travel a bit.

How about a streetball tournament? I've always wanted to do one, its pretty much you have everybody sign up, and on the day of the tournament everybody's names are put in a hat, bowl, etc., and you random draw names for each of the teams.
basic guidelines:
-Multiple teams are set up prior to event (no names get put onto a team before the draw on the day of the tournament)
-On the day of the tournament you randomly draw a name for one team, then one for the next, so on and so forth
-repeat until all teams are randomly drawn and all players have a team
-then the actual "tournament" happens, could be more like a round robin so everybody plays everybody
-at the end of the day you announce teams rankings (if you do round robin, which would be more fun because everybody gets guaranteed a lot of matches)
-and a good thing to do is get shirts made for each team, each team a different color (and name if you want)
take a look at the Vicious Streetball tournament and you'll see exactly what I'm describing, and IMO this would be the best type of tournament for you guys to do, as:
-even if you don't have a team you can still play
-everybody has fun
everybody meets new people and makes new friends
-there's no "that teams the best here, this sucks that we have to go against them first round"
here's an ETV video on the vicious streetball tournament:
I would really like a streetball tournament, and I could see it being much more successful
This would be sweet. Didnt think of this.

TCP Double Take
Just host it at Hells, they have 2 awesome PSP fields their we used for IMS 2010, and IMS 2012 is back at Hells, it would of been great to have both fields going! Ill keep an eye out for this event, I would really like to get out there and do the photos.

Where in the works with Hell Survivors and it looks like this event will most likely be held. On their website under the Xball page there is a list of dates, check back there for updates on all the events that have been planned.

Im diabetic so I like the idea of the ADA benefit tournament.
Just a note on the PSP style tournament, make sure you're smart about how you run it. I was at a local tournament in 2010 that tried doing a best 2 of 3 type thing and 5 hours into the tournament we weren't even half way done. I know other fields have done them successfully, this one didnt.
Any news on whats going to happen if anything at all.

TCP Double Take
5 Man Open Tournament
PSP Race to-3
8 player limit
Open class (Division 3 or lower)
Cash pay outs
No coaching
open class means OPEN class. as in no class.
If its d3 or lower, then just say D3 cap.

I didnt know what to call it sorry for this apparent miss communication. CAPS doesnt fix anything though.

Cap. as in "top". Like salary caps in major sports. something you either cannot go over, or are penalized for going over.
If you're referring to my use of capitalizing "open" it was done for emphasis on the word. its not open at all if its restricted in anyway.
street ball would be cool. Ive done one.. its a fun one.

You need to clean up the wording on the 5 man invitational. As Dan has mentioned above, OPEN means no restrictions and it says D3 and below only. Also, I would start a thread for those practice dates here, not very many tourney players check the Hells web site. Great job on organizing all this though, it's nice to see those fields will be used this year.
I think you should try something on the lines of what lone wolf did!
Beginner Tournament
3 Man tournament
4 People on the roster max
You cant have ANY tournament experience! (Meaning its for people who wants to play 1st tournament)
PSP Race 2-Center Flag
12.5 BPS
Entry= around $15 per person
You need to account for the people that havent played a tournament and really want to get into it! The thing with hoping into a rookie tournament for a lot of the newer players is the fact that I have seen 2 local players who play Nation D3 (Chicago, Jersey, Cup), Go into the tournament and sweep away the prizes! I think a lot of players would do this one! I think the age group should be from: 10-30! It doesnt matter age when you are playing a tournament with people that have never played one! I would have 2 teams playing if this happens!
It also says "no D2 or D1 ranked teams". what does that mean exacty? a team competing in D2+? (even if they et last place)... a team that has podiumed in d2+? a single player?
I don't know of a classification system that ranks teams, only players.
If its a PSP rules tournament, use PSP rules. Make an event on the APPA site, for D3 R22. And then time the matches (that is what the PSP does). First tie breaker is time left on the clock. there are no points for bodes or hangs. Just a win, or loss, and the time that took.
Thats the benefit of the APPA, it does all of that ranking restriction for you...
