Windows Media Player LAG

I'm getting pretty annoyed at this problem.

I download videos and movies but when I play them on windows media player it lags like crazy. I can pause it for a few seconds to buffer and it will play okay for a few seconds, then its back to constant lag. It's annoying when I'm trying to watch movies/videos and it lags.

Does anyone know of this problem?

I'm running windows 7 (sony VAIO)

plushdragon helped look for balloons
try a little house cleaning

first off if the pc a few years old try running cc cleaner and defragler to clean up some drive space. on the viao update the video and sound drivers and then update your dvix software or dvix codac pack that your using. if it still has the sound lagging the video use a program to read the codac info of your avi and see if you need a missing audio codac a lot of movie avi are compres with a lot of codac to shrink there size.if you dont have the right one or yours is out of date it going to cause your pc to lag or look like it lagging.

Definitely try VLC. Free, and runs everything without the need of more plugins.

VLC is bad.

Get K-lite with MPC.

VLC was only good for me in Linux.

In Windows, it was unreliable garbage.
