First, thank you everyone for the kind words. At least for those who had kind words (and for people who don’t care, why bother posting? I didn’t read the Detroit newspaper last week because I don’t care about Detroit. But you see a thread about a team you don’t care one way or the other about and decide to spend time reading & posting? PbNation has too many people who need a hobby…. But I digress)

I just want to make sure I leave behind no misperceptions.

No, it had nothing to do with two leagues.

It is the direction paintball needs to go to become a more televised and sociably understandable and enjoyable and most importantly profitable for investors/sponsors.
Has nothing to do with a unified league. Has nothing to do with players growing old and getting on with life. Had a lot to do with me getting on with life, though.

Forget paintball on TV. Even the discussion hurts the sport. I work for an interactive TV company. Before that I worked for an agency. Paintball on TV is not going to happen any time soon. At least not the way we’ve been trying to do it.

And there are no investors. Only spenders.

And it is plenty profitable at the local, field level.

A lot of people and businesses come and go every year, some insignificant and some a pretty big deal. This is definitely the latter. In my 14 years playing I never was privileged to meet Jeff face to face but shared many a Nation thread. In fact the only direct interaction came via pm when Jeff reached out to tell me what valid points I had on a subject and what a douche bag I was being with how I was presenting myself. And he was spot on. I've actually always kept that pm and it reminds me that even though I'm nobody in the sport, the important people are always listening and do know what's going on and how the rest of us are feeling.
HAHAHA, I think I remember that.

They weren't nearly as popular though as far as I knew. But I'm not from that area, so I could be mistaken as to what you North Easterners like/dislike. Hell, I still don't even know what the heck cream chipped beef is.

I don't think having a college degree or being an expert on anything is required in order to be able to post your opinion on Pbnation There wouldn't be very many members if that were the case. (But of course I wouldn't be excluded, seeing as I'm an expert on life.)

I think it's time you stop making assumptions about things you have no idea about, you've been mistaken a few times in this thread already

Or maybe instead of just being rude you could actually contribute. Hurricanes or 187, which did you notice had a larger following? I can't give any numbers, but I can definitely prove there is more paintball merchandise with a Hurricanes logo on it or videos featuring the team than there are for 187. The number of years they played pro guarantees that.

From the looks of things, a lot of the players aren't even leaving the sport. It's just the brains behind the Hurricanes organization that's making an exit. The players are simply going to different teams to play. Either way though I agree, it will definitely be interesting.

well, since im from the midwest AND graduated college i feel im qualified enough to have an opinion on this...

sucks to see another team go, but i totally agree with Dome

but to be brutally honest the hurricanes are a pro team, you watch them for entertainment purposes. freaking out because the players decided to do something else is exaggerated. this wont kill the sport in your state, this wont end paintball. teams come and teams go, support the players and support their decisions. they do this for the same reasons you and i do.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
