The End.
This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again
OK, so it’s a bit melodramatic. Especially that last line. But they were the only song lyrics that seemed to fit.
As I expect everyone (who cares) knows, I have stepped down as the head of the Hurricanes. And as it turns out, the Hurricane name will retire with me.
The Hurricane forum will be closing and moving into the Former Pro Team area.
Remnants of the Hurricanes plan to merge with Avalanche and go forward under that name.
And with that, the end.
To all the people who came to this forum to read and contribute to our conversations – thank you. I have enjoyed having my own little soapbox, and I hope people enjoyed reading it. I always took pride in the level of intelligence displayed in our forum – I often bragged it was the smartest place on PbNation. I don’t know if it had any positive impact on the sport in NE or anywhere else. I used to think so, I’m not so sure anymore. But at least it was fun while it lasted.
To all our fans over the years, all our sponsors, the fields who hosted us, the teams who practiced us and especially the players who represented the team – thank you.

Sad day in New England tournament paintball Jeff. Thanks for all you have done to help build the players in the Northeast and have a team that every young kid in this sport to look up to. It really goes beyond what you did as an owner, and shows that their are people in this sport who really care to see it grow. Hope you the best of luck with whatever you do from here on out.

That's sad to hear. I've always enjoyed hearing your perspective Jeff. And I had some fun times playing against you guys too. I hope you stick around. I think lots of paintball players and teams could benefit from your experience.
Plus, now that you don't have to appease any sponsors for the first time in a decade plus, you can say what is really on your mind.

Jeff and all of the former Hurricanes, thank you for your contribution to the sport. I greatly appreciate all that you've done for paintball in New England. The 'Canes will be missed.

Sad to see New England loss a top quality team.
Just as concerning is what's going to happen to all the canes players? Many of which will be ranked to high to play locally. I'd hate to see them leave the sport - they're a bunch of great ballers.

This is a time to congratulate Jeff....
When I met Jeff, he was this puggy kid at USI in brockton that always came around. He was young and as what we used to call guys back then... a squid. But this kid was eager and wanted so badly to be involved. That was what I always remember of the young Jeff.
As we became friends, I watched him gain confidence and he started to really go for it and eventually started the Hurricanes... a group of kids that just got along real well. Jeff kept pushing.... He pushed the team into the pro division when people thought he was nuts... even I was skeptical. But as we know, he kept pushing and we all know what happened from there as the Hurricanes became the most successful professional team ever to come out of New England.
From a young squid from the recball field to a prominent professional team owner you became.
As a friend and one of your former Hurricane players... I am very proud of what you have accomplished and I congratulate you on a successful tournament paintball career. Enjoy everything you do with the field, and enjoy playing paintball every weekend and just have fun.
The sport will miss you, but our friendship moves forward.
Congratulations to Jeff Stein, Owner of New England's most successful professional team!!
- Archie
