I'm new to sound systems....
Ok, I recently quit my job so I obviously don't have a whole lot to spend.
I'm getting a new 2004 Celica in less than 2 weeks and wanted to put in a new system. Obviously i'm short on cash, and my friend recommended this one to me http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/INFBASSLINKX
I was thinking of getting 2 of them. Or do you guys think 1 would be enough for my small car? Also, if I did get 2, is there anything else I would need to power them? I plan on having it installed for me because the car is being leased and I don't wanna **** up the warrenty.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Basslinks are great where the sound application leans more towards quality than pressure. That is to say, if you want to drive around your neighborhood and set off car alarms... this isn't for you. If you want to add low-freqency sound to your existing system, this is the way to go.
The basslink uses an active woofer next to a passive cone, and is matched to its own internal amplifier. Therefore you don't have to worry about impedances and underpowering your equipment. I recomend these to my customers who want a little kick in their vehicle and have limited space/money/install experience... essentially you need to run a remote wire, power wire, ground wire and some RCAs (some factory decks actually have preouts, but others will need a low-pass conversion from the rear speakers). In a hatch like the Celica, this will honestly give you PLENTY of bass... I don't think you will need two at all. If you had a car with a real trunk, it would be a different story, and I would point you towards something with a little more output... but truck cabs and hatches LOVE basslinks.
You can get away with 10 ga. wire for starters, and I wouldn't worry about buying a capacitor, since it won't draw a ton of power from your alternator/battery.
But... like I said... if you want to knock heads and set off car alarms, save some more scrilla and buy a pair of decent 12s.

i wouldn't recommend on purchasing that sub...infinity does not make good subs.....i would stay in the well know brands, such as: kicker, jl audio, memphis, etc.....
each of these brands have expensive and inexpensive subs that you can buy, and the inexpensive ones still hit like a *****!

true, but if you want bass why would you only want to push 200 watts?

Please refrain from posting such nonsense.
That is all.
PS: Look at the power wire coming into your house from the telephone lines. Is that 0 gauge?

10 ga is good up to 200 watts rms
8 ga is good up to 600 watts peak with a current draw of up to 60 amps
4 ga is good up to 1400 watts peak with a current draw of up to 150 amps
0/1 is good up to 3400 watts peak with a current draw of up to 250 amps
and 0/1 is sooo damn expensive too btw I'm looking at stinger amp kits on sounddomain.com
