Playing Alone...

HI guys,

I can't seem to get a group out to the fields as often as I like.

So I'm thinking about hitting the field ALONE..

would I be an odd ball out there by myself?..is it weird? ..

Do anyone here go out alone?

Thanks!

Just go play, show up every weekend, be courteous and show good sportsmanship and you will find a group of regulars to play with at the field.

I have gone out alone plenty of times, like hounds said be a courteous and enjoyable person and you will find others and they will find you.

You serious?

Man, I didn't think anyone would have the balls to go out alone.

How is it out there alone? I assume you met alot of good people huh

I think I will go out alone, I was just nervous about being an outcast.

Don't be scared to talk to people. Make conversation with anyone that's setting up in the ready area near you. You are engaging in a hobby/activity with other like minded people that are passionate about it, if they are regulars. Compliment there marker/setup as an icebreaker.

I go alone all of the time. It's not really that big of a deal. After the first couple games everyone starts meshing pretty well. If you are that worried about it I would show up a early and try and get a spot in the staging area where there will be a lot of people. That way you are more inclined to talk to people and they we to you. It doesn't matter if you show up alone or with 20 people eveyone is there to ha e fun.

So I used to go alone. Went out, played, started some conversations, and then started making some friends. A year later, I ended up on a team with friends all made at the field that I play regularly (mostly) with.

Starting alone doesn't mean you'll stay alone.

I know what you saying, but i'm also really new to paintball, still trying to get the feel of things.

I'm thinking of hitting up Picasso Lake or Ontarget Paintball alone...have anyone been to these fields?

For 20 years I haven't found one person that plays paintball enough to go with me whenever I go. I just drift onto random paintball fields in the area. My skill level is extremely high, so it doesn't really matter. The hard part though is playing people at my skill level, because they underestimate my abilities and tend to exclude me from games until I am able to prove myself once. I am satisfied with just watching for mistakes to exploit, walking the field, and planning aggressive moves.

Going to the paintball field alone is no bigger of a deal than going to school and not knowing anyone in your new class. It's only as scary as you let it be

Then again, I prefer to do things alone. I know some guys at the field I play at now (like two, and only one of them is ever there on a consistent basis), but I went out Saturday alone. No biggie!

Since I started playing again I've only gone alone and in 6 months I knew most of the reffs and regulars and was being asked to join teams.

I'll go alone. It's not too hard to find out who plays more often and you can coordinate with them. Also, when you build up familiarity with the staff, they'll usually direct newer players to you so you can help them out. I always feel good about that.

Shoot the ball in the air and try to hit yourself as it comes down. Lol

Seriously, I always go to the field by myself when I can since I do not go as often anymore. I still do not have s regular group like I did when I was younger but have always found a group of people to play with. When its rental guys I pull out the pump. When its speedball guys I pull out the LV1.

I'm getting back in after 5 or 6 years of not playing much. Started by going to a three day big game alone in early April. It was definitely different than just showing up on a walk on Sunday, I kinda bounced around different groups or just with other people who were alone or separated from their group. I'll be playing the odd random weekend alone as well if I can't get some old buddies to come along.

Like others have said it's only as scary or awkward as you make it. For the most part I've always found people to be friendly, you're both at a paintball field so you kind of already know you share a common interest

I play alone a lot. It really doesn't bother me. I don't think its like going to the movie theatre alone. I actually go paintballing so much I recognize people a lot and we start talking more and more because of the common interest. Have fun!

all of you idiots arent playing alone. you have other players to contend with.

when I go out to play I play alone.
I have bunkered, wiped against, bonus balled, got into a fight,
shared a pod, chanted in a huddle, took the podium....
all by myself. against myself. It was one hell of a game.

You arent alone, chat up a team mate, chew fat with the refs if the games are going slow.
youre all playing paintball.. so you all have something in common.
and if you have an autococker and you see a mag user on the field,
you now have an enemy too. see? easy.
