Buying a New Desktop any advise is appreciated

I'm buying a new desktop for family/home use. No compuer gaming just photo editing, web browsing, you tube, FB and eBay mostly. Old one is a 5 year old Dell.

Any advice on brands and what to look for performance wise would be greatly appreciated.

All in ones:
Asus
*Acer

Traditional Desktop:
Lenovo
You'll have some money left over for a nice monitor.

If you want to get adventurous you could go for a mac mini. They run around $500 for the lowest model, but then you have to buy the key board, mouse and monitor

Nervous about a mac just because of the unknown. I appreciate the ones you pointed out to me. Thank you very much.

The Optiplex line is probably the best business-class desktop ever made. They are a little more expensive, but the build quality, reliability, and "gold" customer service you get are incredible. I'm pretty sure the CS reps are also located in this country.

Yep, the business-class CS is really good and they are American, usually from Tampa or Oklahoma City. Precision support is even better, but the cost becomes prohibitive pretty quickly for most people. The Optiplex hardware is really solid and they look sharp, too.

Kinda biased? How about "kinda experienced?" How about this: what prebuilt would you recommend?

Is it a consumer-line product? That's typically where the horror stories come from. Buying from their business-level products almost makes it seem like you're dealing with a different company.

I can't speak for Lenovo, but I guarantee Asus and NCIX wont give you better support than Dell. What model were your machines? If they were blaming your software, either you or your IT staff sucks at dealing with them or your software is actually suspect.

systems don't overheat because of software. :[ unless its the one that overclocks the computers and turns off the fans or something.
