velocity inconsistency because of reg?

OK, I have a Trilogy Competition pump, and when I had the stock reg on it, it shot +/- 3 or 2, but I switched the reg on it to an etek reg and a on off asa, because I HATED the stock angled asa. I had to switch both the asa and the reg because the stock ones had their macro fittings glued into them, so I had to change the reg too. Since I switched them, I have horrible consistency with it. I'm guessing that it's the reg that's the problem, and I'm guessing that it's too low of a pressure for the cocker to run on. however, I really didn't need to adjust the hpr that I put on it at all, it didn't give me any problems like low velocity or anything when I switched it, except for the inconsistency. Can anybody help clarify/confirm my theory, or suggest possibly a different solution? and also maybe how to set the operating pressure higher on the reg so that it stops? thanks in advance for any help

Most consistency issues with cockers are from the paint to barrel match.

Get a barrel kit and size your paint, it should fix it. Though, cleaning the reg wont hurt.

About the bore match, it was the same exact paint, and then also I just had my etek reg cleaned not that long ago, I've used the reg only twice since.

Does anybody have an idea how to take the glue off of the stock reg and Asa, so that I can try the stock reg again, with a different Asa?

If my hpr is set too high the consistency starts to get wonky. Try turning it down and see if its still inconsistent, then you will know if it is your setup or the reg.

You'll need the following:

-vise (with soft jaws or a couple blocks of wood)
-something with ASA threads (preferably a reg or empty tank)
-correct wrenches (adjustable will work, but the right size would be better)

Apply the correct combination to separate the parts. I pulled those things apart on a Comp myself, WGP REALLY likes their blue Loctite.

PBkidminion. Not sure who you are on Delta, but I'm Wade on Fubar. If you don't get this worked out by the next time I see you I can take a look at it for you.

Ok, I've seen you around on the forums but don't know exactly who you are either, but I would probably recognize you by looks if I saw you. And the next time I would see you would probably be either day of rangers or global conquest, have to wait and see. And you have probably seen me before, I've been to every hsi event since the start of 08 or 09. White eclipse jersey, 5' 4" ish, shooting a bronze etek with velocity then this year a prophecy, at twc I had gotten a new gun, the vicious ego in my sig. Green proximate then recently grillz. Oh well, either way, I'll find you if you're at one of the big games and it's still a problem.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try the solution I quoted in the post above this one, and then also I'm gonna try doing it by hand using an exacto knife or pick, or something along those lines.

Hope to see you later this year, let's gang up on Narf

See, I doubt it's that the hpr is set too high, but rather too low. Reason being that eteks and egos (I have my eteks reg on it) run at a lot lower pressure than cockers, egos run around 200 psi and cockers run around 400-450 psi (I'm pretty sure on the cockers, could be wrong though). So I'm thinking that there is not enough air going through the etek reg to where the cocker can efficiently shoot, as it's being underpressurized.

And another note, after I try the one solution, if it works then I will chrono it on Sunday to see if the reg was the problem, as is the only really logical cause of my cockers problems. I'll keep you guys informed

When working with loc-tite, heat is your friend. A pen torch on the base of the fitting should be enough to loosen up the loc-tite.

A blow drier might help as well.

And 400-450 is a bit high for most Autocockers.

Mine have always run at around 300-350. Though the Trilly might be different.

Many of the Trilogies run higher than older Cockers, despite their enormous valves.

^^My bad. I know this, because my Trilogy Sport runs properly at around 450-500psi. It always seemed that the Comp and Pro were a bit different. For one thing, they came with a softer mainspring. Maybe the valve/valvespring are the same though.

It's funny actually, because the Trilogy (11/16) valve is more versatile than a standard valve.
