Funny you mention that, I am actually teaching an undergraduate political science class this spring (quantitative analysis)...
I've decided not to pursue a doctorate though, I really want to get a job working for the state department, possibly as an FSO or with the DSS. Those jobs don't hire until april/may though, so i'm going to stay at school for another semester.
If anyone is looking for work, the CBP is on a serious hiring drive this FY and they really want to recruit combat arms vets.
I have Intro to politics and American Politics knocked out so far. Taking Political Ideas next semester and IR/Comparative Politics in the fall. Also taking Russian for the Language credits. I'm hoping that Russia can get it's **** together soon so it will be useful, definitely more so than Spanish is now IMO.
That's good stuff. It is really an interesting field and you can leverage a degree into a bunch of different jobs. Comparative politics and foreign language are huge right now in gov't jobs with the expansion of state and the embassy expansions in places like libya. And yea russian is a good call over anything else (but hard for reading/writing).
Being ESL I already have a small leg up for overseas work but who knows. I would rather have a big language like spanish, french, or MSA.

grew up with dutch (vlaams) and english
not particularly useful seeing how it's spoken only in a handful of small countries and on a couple of random islands, none of which we are ever planning on exploiting or going to war with.

Dutch is being looked at more and more as it is the lingua Franca in a number of African countries, as Africa is the foreign policy flavor of the month
Yea in theory, but i've met Afrikaaners and I can barely understand a word they say... That's a problem with the language, the dialects are pretty extreme.

Afrikaans is crazy. Zef is crazy. Still cool to listen to though
To my one language knowing virgin ears it sounds like a cluster **** of German and Dutch.
Is the ***** in the last video like the South African Lady GaGa?

I'm leaning towards him as well, watched his other vids and he hasn't swayed on what's the truth. Others I see are just slick tongues saying whatever is popular.
