1st gen 3000gt dont need forged pistons. the rods are stock forged and the cast crank does just fine at 500whp and the forged one in the later model 3000gt does even better.

good tune and timing that is not crazy saves pistons and makes the car go fast. The only guy to constantly break pistons was running to much timing or too little fuel, and he knew that. Forged pistons would be nice but not needed for 350whp or even 450 if i can keep combustion temps reasonable.

edit: and each time he was over 400whp
Not all 1g 3Ss are the same. IIRC 92 or 93 was the strongest year.

point being, those heavy cars come stock with 320hp (not wheel i know) but they crank the boost up and max the stock turbos. so im not afraid of 300whp when a friend of mine has done over 500whp on a stock block in his racecar shadow. motor was actually a junkyard motor.. he just threw it in and ran an 11.

edit: scrapped for $200? I just felt a disturbance in the force, as if tons of 3s voice suddenly cried out and then.. nothing.

edit: so if you buy it off their site, its ebay? mine came from ebay but so did my friends garret..

its not a no name is my point. cx racing is the better cheep turbo to go with. obviously this is true because mine hasnt blown up and a guy on turbo dodge has ran his for 2 years not and its fine.

made this the other day just fooling around

again, civic chase car so no fun pulls.. just my car kinda doing pulls in 4th at 70mph or so.

Its the same exact turbo as all the other ebay m12 casted turbos. You can ask me how i know or you can just trust it.

background on me. im 18 fresh out of highschool. no money not enough work. explains why i go cheep on certain things. i figured i wouldnt drop 800 on a a turbo when i can drop less than 200. if the motor blows up, why would i want an 800$ paper weight?

but it all worked out much better than expected so who cares. im in it to have fun and let me tell you this, running close to the modded cars around here like the wrx and s4 i ran the other night is fricken sweet. i drive this car everyday and still managed to find the time.

Don't you have a SOHC? Why are you comparing DOHC TT numbers to your SOHC's?

did you miss the "blocks are nearly identical" part?

the head have nothing to do with how much power the motor will handle until you get passed 500whp and have head flex between the sohc head bolts.

same crank, same rods, pistons are different due to valve reliefs but dosnt make them weak.. all pistons for g72 motors were cast.

later model 3000gt got the forged crank that wasnt really needed but why the hell not?

We're in the same boat lol, i turned 19 yesterday. I'm running the cxr turbo and i blew the impeller to pieces swapped it +front cover with an old blow ebay turbo and its still running fine. Pulled a 370z from the boost of 4th 8psi. I had lost 3rd gear in my trans which sucked but still pulled em

So I can take the pistons, crank, and the rods out of a SOHC and they're "nearly identical" to the DOHC's?

and thats why we do it.

i told a guy with a chevy when he kept dogging me to race

"why do you want to race? will you get satisfaction out of beating me? i doubt it. but if you lose... "

you can take my crank, rods, and pistons and put them in your dohc block. yes. they fit and work. valve releifs are different and sense yours is interference, the pistons might not like it but its not a problem because you would be a bone head to swap the pistons. But if you need a junkyard rod (for whatever reason) the cheapest bet would be pulling it from a sohc car because the junkyard guy is going to charge you less

like i said, the cranks are identical except for the forged ones that the late model cars got. all 6g72 rods are identical.

I stand corrected, then.

I had a Mitsu forged crank in mine.

nice. they lied about the nitrating from the factory though, not that it matters. that crank will take alot of punishment.

my future block build will have a forged crank if i can get ahold of one but i wont be to worried about it. 450whp, lsd, slicks will get me my low 11 and still work decently on the street for a weekend warrior. this is far in the future though.

i want a 3s car but nothing drives like the 80s and 90s fwd dodge cars.. just something about this thing that sets it apart and i love it. im so lucky cash for clunkers didnt take it.. my just gave it to me after that.

i get 30mpg on the highway still
