Valken fate pants?

My parents aren't exactly the most supportive when it comes to paintball... Even if it's my money I'm spending, they'll usually shake their heads when I need new gear. The cheap valken fate line of pants seems reasonable... But also unreliable. Do any of you guys own a pair? How are they?

My brother has a pair of the fate pants. You can tell that they arent as high quality as other brands of pants when it comes to material and padding but they seem to work for him. Remember you get what you pay for...

I owned a pair for 6 months. I'm also a front player who slides almost every move. I ALSO...play in Texas. On dirt. So, from my experience with them. They may not be the coolest looking or w/e...but they hold up very well against abuse. I'd say get them.

Yea, I'm not one who must have built in padding for pants. If you need the padding, then you get some knee pads for under them or whatever. You don't even need to get the knee pads for paintball either. I seen people use volleyball knee pads that you get at walmart for like $10. My first paintball pants I owned were the Dye Hybrids that didn't have any padding in them and then I went up to the C4 line when it came out. Honestly, the padding in the C4 was not needed since I had knee pads I wore under them anyways. I prefer the old Smart Parts Chico pants and still have 2 pairs I use most of the time that are still in good shape even after 5 years.

Like rob said, you get what you pay for, but you also pay for what you don't need. The best thing is to think about what you do need and see what you can find with that in the pants. Heck, a buddy of mine picked up some of the Smart Parts Defender pants for $25 never used and they look to be a solid set of pants also. If you don't care about the name on them, I'd look into those also if you're looking for something good and cheap.

Just keep paying your way and play as much as you can. My parrents were the same with me when I started playing back in the day. 20 years later, I don't get to play as much as I would like, but I still love the game and play whenever I can.

You could have gotten c9's or c10's for that price. Used ones though. Have fun!

jt08s for $50 are MUCH better. In fact Jt08s are my favorite pants made. They have LOTS of padding

Totally understandable. This is the time when you need to prove them you are wise with your money when joining a luxury sport.

We have the largest Buy/Sell/Trade Marketplace for paintball in the world here.

As an Example: I bought a DM8 last year for $275. I lubed it and it worked, then sold it a month later for $420. I used that money to buy my dream shocker for $300 and 2 Proflexes at $50 each (double strapped and whatnot) and a revvy at $20. That covered my new mask, and some spare gear to loan out to my dad for when he takes me paintballing.

Things like that are nice because
A. you have backups
B. You have more cool stuff and you spent less of YOUR initial investment money on it
and
C. You can loan it out to your dad, in addition to buying it for him, which shows you're willing to give back for the money that they will be putting into it (driving money, admission, air, paint, etc)

And for the pants note: The pair I have now is a Like New pair of Hybrid Contract Killer Edition Playing pants from 2008. New they were $124.99 (correct me if I'm wrong). I bought them 10 months ago for $25. yeah it was used, but 2 cycles through the wash with the rest of your clothes, on cold, with extended rinse and spin cycle, and it looks brand new to the point you'd think you just pulled it off the shelf right after it's been stocked.
