It is an incredibly natural-feeling and intuitive product, which is just one of the reasons it's shipped almost 40 million units.

Part of the advantage of a tablet is portability, if you're going to be carrying MicroSD cards, portable hard drives, and a battery/dock you might as well be carrying a laptop.
I lol'd hard. Thats one of the funniest arguments ive heard for an apple product yet.

Thats almost as good as me asking why people like apple and they say "cause it just works".

You do also realize that inserting a 32gb micro SD card into a 32 gig transformer with a 64gb SD card in the base gets you the same amount of memory as the air? You dont have to carry them around either, they stay in the device...

As impressive as the Transformer is, tablets can't compete with a decent laptop. Now, the Air bridges the divide, but I'm not a big fan of it (having used the 11" version, it didn't have the horsepower to run much more than what a tablet can do). If you want something for browsing, watching movies, and maybe doing some light work, I think the Transformer is a good choice. If you're going to be doing virtually anything beyond that, I'd say look into a decent laptop.

I don't know why you'd go for a tablet instead of a laptop unless you're bad at computer or strictly want to save money. I would stay away from anything Windows as the touchpad input blows dick. I want to shoot myself every time I have to work on a Windows laptop without a mouse.

Some laptops (ahem, HP) have terrible trackpads, others are pretty good.

I dont use a trackpad ever. I have always hated the trackpad on every laptop i have ever owned. So, if i take my laptop to class with me, i just bring the mouse as well.

I meant it more at an OS level rather than the physical pad but yes, some are much better than others. Unless manufactures change this, doing anything like two-finger scrolling is painfully wonky. Windows 8 is supposed to do it much better from what I've seen. It feels so magically on my Macbook. But srsly, that is one of the reasons why I got one. Apple just does a better job at touch input so far.

Personally I would pick up the Air over the Transformer. Sounds like you want to use it for more of a laptop rather than a consumption device. I agree you can download torrents and write papers on your Transformer, but I think it would be easier to do on the Air. You'll get less battery life, but honestly with your Galaxy Nexus, you've basically got a tablet in your hand since the screen is so big. My Epic 4G Touch and Xoom are basically the same device to me.

If you're going to spend the money on an Air, you might as well go with a 13" Macbook Pro. Wall sockets are easy to find.

After using one, I wouldn't pay more than about $500 for an Air (if that).

I've own'd the first ipad and it was nice at the time but wish it did what a laptop could do. (keyboard, trackpad, not touch screen. dont have to worry about flash or mobile sites. and if there's an "app" for what i want to do.

There is your answer right there. The 2 devices (Macbook Air) vs (Tablet) are 2 very different things. If you want a full computer experience, you have to go with the Air, but if you just want to do a few things well, and the tablet serves thops purposes, well its cheaper to go the tablet route. Buy for your purposes, not just because you "could" use it later down the road.

Keep in mind that if you do want flash, flash downright SUCKS on tablets. Even if it's on a Tegra 3. Adobe has stopped developing for it, so it's not going to get any better. Flash sucks enough on the a PC and Macbook....

I use my iPad for school, and pretty much only for school. When my PC is right here...I just think...why?

Go with the Macbook if you can afford it and need it. But if money is tight and you only need it for a few key things, get the Tablet.

Well heres what happened. I went to bestbuy with my father to help him find a tv. Well they had thr macbook airs there as well as the tablets. I didnt like how the tabs ran thry felt not as fast as they should. Now i know the prime was not there.but.still i felt thst they should be a little faster plus thry felt.to.close to a phone os. I wish thry just would.mske a dedicated tab os and keep thr phone os to the phones

Anyway i bought a macbook air 13" 1299.99 version well the lady came back saying that they had an open box one and it was only 1000 !!!! I took a look at the.computer.is.was.new and only had.1 charge cycle it!! So it worked out great.

So far.im loving it.but.thought the battery life would be a little better.than it is but its not horrible

My e6410 Occasionally likes to freeze up and become unresponsive to all touch and have to do a reboot.

I wanted a prime but when i played with one I wasn't happy with performance. The IPad2 with better tablet no matter the performance. Mac book Air is prolly your best choice but make sure you are getting it for the right reason. Alot of people gets mac's cause of the trend Apple has going.

My brother just got a Transformer for Christmas, and other than having massive battery life, it's pretty unimpressive. There are too many things it can't do, which his $200 netbook can.
