Considering how molds for rubber type grips cost a small fortune don't hold your breath for anything fancier than SPD grips.

That won't happen. You'd have to write code to support the hardware and add a completely different set of logic chips for the analog to digital conversion. It'd make the board prohibitively expensive to do that. That's leaving aside the patent issues.

If having a screen means I have to use SPD (or similar) grips, count me out on that. I'd rather count blinking lights. It's not like you'd be dealing with 67 ****ing blinks to count the dwell on an Ion. SPD or any other acrylic grips provide little grip, especially when your gloves or hands have paint on them from previous games. Not to mention that slightly overtightening a screw can crack them and render them useless. Lexan (polycarbonate) would be a better alternative but it's more expensive and still doesn't solve the lack of good grip without adding some texturing. That would just increase the price though. Once again, I'd rather count blinking lights than go with acrylic grips.

I've had SPD grips on my Victory. They were nice because they were very thin, and the lack of grippy material actualy helped my change hands quicker. The material did have stress lines by the screw holes but it isnt as if the corners just break off if you tighten them down... That being said, it's also possible to cut your own window into the stock grips. There was a guy in the marq forums who made a screen with a little innovation because he didn't like the SPD grips either for his yakuza.

lets face it, COPS/SENSI sucked.

I would think if they are making an OLED it would be compatible with most of the grips out there as the A1 was the first angel to move the LCD from the middle of the grip to the top.

OK, How about:
1. Just plain old LED board to repalce the stock......
2. NO OLED, keep the stock grip panel, but Bluetooth Module to hook up with your favorite Android device to adjust the settings?

Now that's interesting. How would that affect pricing? Is a Blue Teeth unit cheaper than setting up an onboard OLED?

There's probably going to be a split between people who want a graphic display, and those who are more concerned about having a soft grip than the display. Personally, I'd prefer the graphic display - not that programming a board is a big hassle, but it's still easier with the display. Particularly in my case - I have a memory problem, so trying to remember what colour represents what is an issue for me. Having the board tell me what I'm adjusting, and show me the value in real time, is a huge convenience for me.

I'm fine with the first option. And as long as I can still set the board the old fashioned way, option 2 would work as well. I'm one of those few people left in the U.S. that refuses to buy a "smartphone."

A couple people mentioned putting a window in the stock grips, if that's easy enough to do, I have no problem with an oled board. But if a product is put out that 100% requires acrylic grips, I'll just wait until the prices of used virtue boards plummets and grab one of those. I appreciate that you're listening to ALL of the people interested in buying your products but I know common sense still dictates that you go with what the mass of people will buy.

It would be cool to be able to use an old feature of angels I never got the chance to (IR data transfer) but with a mobile device. A mini USB connection would be nice as well for people without access to smartphones.

Making your own screen isn't much of a complicated job, it requires a dremel, a piece of lexan or similar, bonding agent, and some time.

I still vote OLED, though. Memorizing lights / always having a manual open is much less attractive than opening the grips if I MUST have the unmodified rubber option.

I am also for the display. just include a 'template' to cut the stock grips and a 'window' insert to protect it.

Also if you go the bluetooth route, remember that android isn't the only OS out there and expect *****ing from others out there with something different. love all/most or none.

I'm not picky on how it is displayed..led or oled...I'm more interested in a price effective replacement board that runs on 9v.
