Are you going to use a plastic for the eye hole?

Can you elaborate on how the IR beam is suppose to pass through the metal? Interesting concept.

Isn't that going to scratch the hell out of the breech?

14-15 eyepipe is the same as the 8-13.
so you wont have to change anything for those.

The eye pipe will have a hole/slot cut out for the eyes to read through.

So what's the purpose of the eyepipe when you make holes for the eyes to see through but don't cover them?

When you break paint in your breach, those holes will be covered with paint and your eyes will never read a ball untill they are cleaned by hand.

The whole concept of the eyepipe is gone this way.

When I was looking to buy a DM I kept finding threads about plastic eye pipes cracking, so I went with a DM6 to avoid the problem. If you're making metal ones, I'd love to get my hands on 2 or 3 when they're for sale.

Why not just put clear plastic in the eye holes?

Because the clear part is patented by dye.

The breech will function just like every other paintball gun, you have to be breaking alot of paint to cover the eyes, and at that point you have no accuracy any way.

Just think about how often you clean the eyes on non dye markes, maby a few times a year if that. If your seriously breaking paint then you need to fix the real issue, ie. Bad paint or bad bore match, ect.

Again, this part won't be for everybody but there are people who want it.

To bad you couldn't just notch the bottom and insert the clear plastic or other material to avoid patent issues

The tint, shade or color isn't gonna matter. If the eyes can see through the material then it won't fly.

Neat idea! On a side note, I've only owned Shockers and a Luxe before switching to DYE. I had to clean my Shocker eyes often and my Luxe eyes after every day of use because they would get so dirty with paint oil/debris etc...(could have been because of the angle they sit at compared to other guns, not really sure). But I really like the plastic eye pipes. I have to replace mine about once a year and you can buy them for I think $7 or $9 each from ANS Gear. One orange DYE o-ring on your barrel back usually fixes any breakage problems and they are cheap enough to buy spares. Just an idea if anybody is having consistent problems breaking them.

Always nice to have the option. I wonder if the material being metal would make for a better breech seal during firing?
