do you have any tips or websites or videos that you could direct me towards to help me get started?

There's some good info on there to give you an idea of what goes on behind music production. Those Warbeat (sp?) videos will help you how to understand melodies and other essential aspects of some genres of EDM.

You will quickly find out that Google and YouTube are your best friends.

What I suggest you do is acquire a DAW (which you already have), get some VST's (we could suggest some to you but it'd be a good idea to know what style of music you're aiming for; Google and vstplanet will be helpful for finding some decent and free synths for your taste), and just start messing around with everything. You'll find that you'll be coming across problems as your start producing, like "why doesn't my bass kick sound very loud?" or "[How do I]/[What are] automations?" and that's when you start on your Google/YouTube rants. Most of the questions you have will have their corresponding answers on the internet. You're more than welcomed to ask us for tips, though.

With that being said, music production is essentially an experiment. There are technical aspects that you have to learn about in order for your music to sound clean, and then there are more "creative" aspects that make your music sound more appealing.

I suggest you look for these things first:

sidechaining
EQ'ing
compression

These are three essential things you'd want to learn right off the bat and practice as your skills get better, especially the last two.

As for learning how to synthesize sounds, there are a few tutorials on how to make popular bass lines (especially for VST's like Massive) but it's really all about putting long hours into sitting down and tweaking every aspect of the VST to learn what each thing does. Do a little research on specific VST's there are for your genre of music, acquire one, and start tweaking. This way you'll understand the universal fundamentals of sound synthesis and will be able to apply it to any other VST's you get in the future without being overwhelmed of too many VST's.

Those are my 2 cents. Take 'em or leave 'em.

Too much info right now and too many sample packs and VSTs will just be overwhelming.

Pretty sick! Lovin that sub! Nice mixdown too man; nice kick presence even with tons of bass. Clap and percussion are solid too. Digging the vibes from those freaky noises as well.

When listening to this track I imagine someone trying to escape a chaotic city during a zombie apocalypse.

Seriously though, this track would be deadly in a large concert setting.

Here's my current WIP again, with some new synths. Didn't realize how crap the shakers sound until I put it on soundcloud tho. Def gonna fix that up.

In other news, I wish soundcloud had a feature that automatically made me un-follow anyone who stops following me. Sick of people following me only to remove me once I follow them back.

Ya man, the only people i follow on soundcloud are people that i have listened and liked their music. I gain and then lose probably 30 followers a day lol

Matt im not feeling that arp in your track. Keep the arp but a different sounding one that sounded way too generic. It was a little loud in the mix too

You're referring to the bass right?

I'm liking this so far, love how upbeat it is. Definitely a feel good song, I like how subtle the drums are. I think it's a little repetitive, it could use a little variation, but it seems like you could add a lot more to this song, I also realize it is a WIP. I'm definitely feeling it!

I don't have my Audio Technica headphones on me right now, but otherwise I would listen to all the tracks that were just posted. From the looks of the feedback, I'm pretty stoked to hear them!

What do you guys think about this article, specifically the parts about the kick and snare?

Red Onions -

I really enjoyed the intro and build up, really thick and bassy synths, while still keeping the integrity of the mix intact. I like how dark it sounded and mysterious it sounded at parts, kind of keeping the listener from knowing whats to come next. Has an awesome beat, and just keeps my head moving.

Razers -

I liked some of the sounds, however I wasn't really feeling the "lazer" sounds in this track. It seemed like the chords were a bit repetitive, could of used some variation in my opinion. Still a great track overall, just not feeling it right now I suppose.

Zone -

Love the build up, very organic and again deep, and "thick" sounding. Awesome synthesizers, and production. I thoroughly enjoyed the bass drop at the 1:00 mark. I also really liked the leads that started at the 4:00 mark, that's my type of music style I kind of prefer. Good stuff so far

It said you took it down/couldn't be found. I checked out your Electro House song "High", and that kick drum is fat as ****. Pretty good song

Not really into "hardcore", but it was alright. I liked how "Euro trance" it felt. Kind of felt like I was playing some type of video game haha.

I don't believe I've ever posted this track on this forum yet, it was the first progressive house song I ever tried and this is what I came out with. Let me know!
