My Suicide Attempt Aftermath (WARNING: Bloody Clothes Inside)
I kind of wanted to take a couple "powerful" photos about the recent situation I've just had to endure and am still enduring. Let me know what you think. Picture includes the blood-stained shirt and undershirt I was wearing that were cut off me, my glasses broken from the gunshot, all the meds I'm currently on, and a blood-stained boot.

Not sure they're nearly as powerful to other people as they are to me, but I hope they're at least decent.

White balance is off, focus is iffy, and the composition doesn't really go anywhere. Also, you should get your meds filled at Walgreen's and not CVS.

Yes, I attempted suicide. Shot myself in the head and lived. Spent 41 days in the hospital between the trauma unit and a psych ward. Make all the jokes you want.

Why did you attempt suicide? Who do you live with? Did you have a job?

I was very depressed and stressed about where my life was going. I live by myself in a college apartment off campus with 2 of my good friends in the same small building. No job at school, but I had a decent amount of money saved up. I feel the excessive alcohol use that night contributed to it a lot.

Glad to hear you are okay. I can relate. My girl left me just between her coming back from Afghanistan and me leaving for my tour. And I had no job. I was good and ready to end it back then. But then I started running everyday and ended up losing 40lbs and getting back into paintball. Met better peeps and got a great job now.
**** happens, but good **** also happens.

You're in college with 2 good friends, don't even have to work, and a decent amount of money saved up? Bro sounds to me like you have it made...I know people that would kill to have that life. What is so depressing and stressful about where your life is going?
Not trolling, serious question.

It's clinical depression. I don't control it. I have great friends, I had a great girlfriend at the time, I have a supportive family. I know it seems like depression is usually caused by current life situations/bad parenting/etc, but it's not always the case. Clinical depression can make you down when everything's going well. It gets to the point that I get scared solely because I know a depressive episode can come out of nowhere. That's what happened to me and I impulsively acted on it while drunk. Do I regret it? **** yes.

Hopefully you're smarter about your choices since you've gotten a 2nd chance.
Stay on your meds and off the bottle.
As for the images, I agree with reddog above.

I plan on making the most of it.
And as far as the pictures go, do you have any suggestions to make them better. I really want to capture the somberness of this situation if you will, but I'm new to photography so I don't really have a great eye for composition yet as you can see.

Honestly, there's a lot you can do but just arranging the items doesn't convey the message you're trying to send to anyone but you. Photos are like jokes, if they have to be explained ... they don't work.
Looking those photos the only thing it says to me is you like pills, lots and lots of pills.
If you want to capture the raw emotion of a "suicide" you need to make it human, personal, and something that we can all relate to in some way.
Staging a scene using a human subject, or portions of them would go a long way. I've got a number of ideas of how I would set the scene. You've got to figure out the message that YOU want to send and find the right vehicle to do so.
