So I tried a different crop, so you can see all of her ears. But now I feel like there's a lot of dead space around her. Suggestions?

I'd crop just the left side of her face that is in the light. Cut off the sheet area and the underexposed right side of her face. Make the photo huge and it'll be bad ***.
