I think you should try a tourney like the way they do a type at Pevs Paintball Park. They call it streetball. It is a 3 man tourney and people sign up as individuals, no teams. Then, on the day of the tourney, a staff member/ tourney director will then pick 3 names out of a hat. Those 3 names are 1 team. You can have a schedule already out and then fill it in on game day by Team 1, Team 2..etc. If there is not enough people fill a team, then they should be able to have a free pass with walk-ons. It is a first come , first serve basis. There is np division (but only d5-d2 players, no d1 or semi-pro or pro) because it can end up anyway. It is a suggestion you should think about and you could always tweak the rules. Hope to play in a tournament this year !

Sounds like a great idea to get new players into the tourney scene, although one thing to think about is the random selection of teams. What happens if two d2/d3 players get put on the same team or if two people happen to be teammates outside of the tourney.

like the idea, maybe try to put d4-d2 players each in a different hat and pick that way? i know it wouldnt come out 100% perfect but maybe worth a try. i love the idea though

needs to be 5man imo. 3man ull get too diverse of teams where as 5man theres more ppl to pick up the slack. just my opinion

i like that idea as well, actually makes a lot of sense, with 3 man theres a lot of risk for a bad and inconsistent losing teams,whereas 5 man gives you more range for skill level, and will much more benefit those just getting into it.

Maybe a more realistic idea for this is to have a pick-up team registered for every event, similar to what the NCPA is doing.

That way if there are 3 or 5 similarly ranked free agents, they can come together and play the event. This would skip the addition of a "streetball" division, which might not generate enough interest to be both financially and schedule feasible.
