In the post above mine he suggests removing an o-ring and just lubing as reduced friction may benefit it.

Having not seen the part yet I'm thinking that if you are going to do that then polishing may be beneficial. Also someone reported scratching so again i'm thinking polishing may help.

He also said to pack the oring slot with grease if you remove the oring. Doing that will cause it to ride on the grease.

Pooty doesnt polish the tophat, just the bolt and inner can. Of course the tophat can be done in about 5 evtra minutes..

Id say polish it yourself.. It took me about 20 mins to do mine. If you have the tools, its easy

got my bolt/can pooty polished, love it. that + eigen ring makes my m9 = the best shooting gun I've owned (out of 10 years of owning tournament level guns)

I just installed my eigen ring & passed her around, everyone was astonished. eliminated felt recoil. Haven't got a change to fine tune but I dropped my dwell to 15 & dropped the lpr a bit. Lovely

Thanks Lurker! & pooty!

I find it does - the lowered dwell is synergistic with the action of the Eigenring. It's sort of like . . .Putting in the ring opens up this area of timing in the pressure dynamics of the gun where things get very efficient, and then you use tuning to step the timing of the gun down into that pressure envelope. By polishing out the bolt, you make the gun more naturally run at the "efficiency point" that the ring creates.

If you tuned a gun with an Eigenring to dwell 22 or so, I feel the benefits would start to become much reduced, and eventually look like a more mundane top hat mod (since the chamber would more or less have a chance to fully empty)

Glad you're likin it, sogo!

I just got mine in today, it was hard to get the ring on the tophat and I didn't see much benefits so far. I'm not sure if the ring itself is actually moving. It took a friend of mine a minute with an oring pick and a small allen key just to get the ring on with the oring.

Is there suppose to only be the oring on the inside of the ring?

I think I finally got it installed correctly but I can't tell if the ring is actually moving or not. It seems to shoot the same as before.
My issue earlier was that the big sleeve was moving and I think I fixed that.

Right now I have the oring inside the ring but I also tried it without. I'll have to wait until I shoot some real paint to see if there's a difference in efficiency.

again week 2 of playing with my Eigenring in my DM9 and I have very happy with the results, I was taken a look at the ring and was curious is the ring actually moving on the top hat or is there more as a seal to close off the extra cylinder?

ok so here is what I went through today:

DM9 with the mod
new battery on rotor and gun
new o-rings on everything
.689 Bob Long Barrel and matched to paint

Dwell 16
LPR (back of the gun) 3 and 1/4 turns out - Counter Clockwise Turns
HPR (from the tank) 2 3/4 turns out - Counter Clockwise turns

68/4500 tank filled to 4500 / G.A. Myth Reg. (High Press. out)- Temp 74 to 76
a hopper (rotor) and 6/7 pods (pods packed to the top)

PSP 12 bps @ 285 fps as per our field

Left over 1000 psi ....

so not sure if that is that great or not?!?

Not quite as good as I've seen, but pushing not quite 1500 shots from a full tank is still quite good for a normal DM (if it was 7 pods).

Were you using the o-ring on the ring itself?

the only o-ring it had was on the can portion which slid down the bold guide which was very snug, no o-ring would fit (from what I had in my bad of supplies from over the years) on the floating ring

Get SLP reg for tank... tune dwell... post results.. if you REALLY wanted to squeeze out every little bit of efficiency, get an unported barrel

Should be fine the slp was brought out to fix a bob long problem with ninja regs. I haven't seen any evidence an slp helps a DM even ninja techs didn't recomend them. They do have a medium pressure they are marketing.
