New team and they want me to coach. HELP ME
So, me and my friends wanted to start a tourney team, and so we did. I am the only one who has some experience in tourney ball, and of course because of that, the responsibility fell to me to coach the team as nobody else knew what they were doing. SO PBN I NEED YOUR HELP!!! Drills to run, strategies, positions, what to practice, getting sponsors, all of it. Printouts websites diagrams would be great. All help is appreciated! Support an up and coming team!
Thanks,
Tyler

Start practicing basic communication. Play against other local teams so you get a feel of playing with each other. For drills, 1 v 1s, 2v1s, 3v2s all help build players individual skill and build a teams game closing skills. Also, practice laning. Set up cones or targets at the corners or other bunkers you want to lane off break and practice breaking out from the start gate and laning those targets while getting to your bunkers.

Going to be a 5 man D5 team. Probably just playing local tournaments. Maybe PSP?

Local and PSP are far in between.

I would say stick with local and/or regional events. Don't worry about playing PSP.
For drills and stuff, first I would say make sure everyone has a strong "foundation" to work on. Like if everyone can hold their gun properly, switch hands, has a good stance, etc. If they are all good at those simple basic things, move on to the next thing to practice. Snap shooting, gun battling, laning, run and gun. Communication is key, but knowing what to do with the information given to you is even better.
Another little tip with laning, let's say for example your job is to hold the snake lane. If you're feeling heat, see paint coming at you, whatever it is, instead of tucking in completely which causes you to drop your lane, just shift your lane. So if I'm holding the snake lane that is a bunker or two before the snake and I'm feeling heat to where I have to tuck in, I just shift behind my bunker so whoever is shooting at me can't see me anymore, and my lane just moves closer to the snake. I will still be doing my job of holding the snake lane and not letting anyone get in.

Agreed
bumblB has good advice, id stick with what their sayin, if you guys just get your basic stuff down and be solid with communication then you guys should be fine. as already stated make sure everyone has good communication skills, calling opposing positions, calling for cover, ect.
Also make sure you guys get to the fields early enough to walk all of them and see how the field looks and the best way to play it. Look for the blind spots, look for the little gaps that we all forget about sometimes , see if the field is wet or soft soil or if its lumpy, look for random holes that could be potential ankle twisters. Knowing the playing area is a good part of the battle, if your opposing team did not walk the field and has no clue, you guys are already at a advantage.
Overall, and most importantly, have fun, if your not having fun, these tournaments are not worth the money you spend on them. With you being the Captain , you have to take the lead and show a good example, communicate with your teammates and explain the direction the team is going. Communication is the key, like I said if everyone is having fun, thats the main thing at the end of the day.
