Ironmen at World Cup Asia - brief report from Scott Kemp with pics
Langkawi, Malaysia is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. It consists of 99 islands with a whopping population of 64,000. The 2011 World Cup Asia was held here with a total of 250 teams from over 50 different countries. In conjunction with this event was the International cup. My team and I had the fortunate opportunity to join this event as representing team U.S.A.
The events staff flew us out for a week to venture on this trip. Three airplanes, 2 cab rides, a car ride and 40 hours later, we arrived! Each day was packed with some soft of event or a tour of the island. This place was like Tahiti in Asia! Just absolutely amazing!
The paintball event started on Friday. It was held in an indoor facility with 5 fields. The league spent over 1 month building the event to make sure everything was perfect, as it was.
In the International Cup we ended up taking 2nd place, losing to France in the finals 2-4. It was a pretty upsetting loss. We let down America, and ourselves. Besides the loss, this was my favorite trip yet. I love the fact that I can be on the other side of the world and here I’m hanging out with friends I have made from all different countries sharing the same passion as I do. Meeting new people all over the world never gets old and I’m so fortunate to have this opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who helped put on an amazing event! I can’t wait for next year!

Yeah, that's a mistake you don't want to make again next year, especially since you are so close.

Iron men meet Tsunami
Just a quick apology for the behaviour of one of the Tsunami guys from Australia who acted violently towards one of the Iron men at the after party.
I wasnt there but it is a team I have been associated with for many years.
Hope this doesnt change your view of World Cup Asia for 2012.
