curious about valves

So we often talk about one valve being better or worse than other valves but I'm not really sure if I understand what makes these valves so different that one is actually better. The valves in question I guess would be the tornado valve the ccm valve and a stock wgp valve.
Can someone explain the science at work in saying one of these is better or worse than another?

volume, turbulance, dwell, anti blow back, overall quallity and material in general.

all of the valves are nothing without proper springing

boom.

perfectly sprung guns will out-shoot top dollar valves and hammers all day.

Agreed but lets just say you have 3 valves sitting around in your apartment and you need to put one of them in the marker. My question is what makes one valve more desirable than another one.

Evil authority your answer about volume and dwell is a great start to my question. Now I guess I need to do research on these specs for the valves I have

just choosing a valve wont do it tho.

i would never use a ccm valve with anything other than a full ccm lower tube kit

just as i wouldnt use a tornado without a spring kit for tuning

but a valve like the wgp can run on just about any combo, however may lack in some areas of performance

my point is the valve is only as good as the rest of the components and it really depends on what you are trying to achieve. LP, HP, light pump stroke, efficeincy, etc

yea I see what you are saying. I have the ccm valve and the springs so I would be missing the hammer but I can always get one. I have a tornado valve and a spring kit for it and I have a stock valve and stock hammer. I use an lp tank and I am aiming for a light pump stroke. I feel I can get the light pump stroke though with either the tornado valve or the ccm. So I guess given the stuff I have I am just trying to figure out what parts go in which of my two snipers and in what combo.

Use the AKA tornado and use the CCM springs. The CCM springs are the lightest springs available, even compared to the lightest maddman springs.

Then just a heavier hammer, the CCM one.

Around an ounce and a half, nearly identical to a Shocktech Phat.

A little secret ... ounces are too large of a unit of measure for comparing hammers.

I know, but when compared to a 1.2 oz no name hammer, it makes all the difference. Besides, how many grams is enough to make a notable difference?

More than 10 grams before you start seeing a real difference.

That's .3 ounces for anyone not doing the math.

while i suck at tuning AKA valves
either the stock WGP or CCM valve will have a super light pump stroke
but the CCM should be quieter with less tuning

He has a different definition of "tuning" than you do.
