My Ninja 68/4500 is leaking from the top (the pin, it seems like). What would cause this with normal use? And how can I fix it?
When I immediately take it out, it's loud. The pin seems to wiggle around, and moving it in different positions will make it leak less, so right now I can only hear the leak if I put my ear up to it.

Thanks for any help you can give, hopefully I don't have to buy another tank.

Sounds like you need a little general maintenance. Try cleaning and rebuilding your regulator with new orings and lube.

Fairly good advice. I would go a step further. When the bonnet is off, look inside, towards the tow. You'll see a white tony donut looking thing. Take that out, and flip it around. That should stop all the problems.

And why not clean out the reg with a q tip, and put a fresh coat of lube on, while you're at it

Yes, he sure is. You can also try calling Paintball Indiana. They both work there. They will be able to get Dura tanks once they come back into stock.

Good info above. Make sure to degas your bottle, remove the bonnet, pull out the piston (be careful because the pin valve and pin valve spring will come out with it and they are small), look inside the top of the bonnet, push the small white teflon oring out (aka the pin valve seat), swab out the pocket with a qtip, clean the oring, reassemble and you should be good to go. If not, you can buy a Pin Valve Rebuild Kit or a Rebuild kit to get a new pin valve seat.

If the fibers are intact, the bottle is still 100% safe to use. We do offer a repair service ($20 + shipping) and the $20 charge will depend on how big and how many chips you have.
ok, it just seems as though its the top clear layer, no exposed fibers, just wanted to make sure thanks!

ah ok, sounds like you might be ok. Hypothetically speaking, you could "peel" off all of the gel coat and the bottle would still be safe to use. Its really the fibers that you need to be concerned about.

What if I didn't get a bonnet tool with my tank?
How else can I get the bonnet off?

Edit: I just bought a rebuild kit off ANS. I'll leave the question in case there is an answer and it can help someone else

I bought a 68/45 grey ghost with a standard reg off of craigslist earlier and when I went to disassemble the bonnet to adjust the shims, there weren't any in there. No red, and no silver shims. Only the piston assembly and the spring. I haven't filled it yet so I'm worried there might be something wrong with my the reg. Will running the reg without shims damage it? And if not, what would the output pressure be?

No shims=450-500psi. It's very common that sellers leave out the shims.

We include a parts kit with every single regulator and bottle/reg we ship; not sure why yours didnt come with one. If you need one, its a 10/32 machine screw that can be purchased at most hardware stores. It also comes with our rebuild kit that you purchased

I just brought out my ninja 68/45 pro out of my closet and it seems to be cracked in a circular pattern there is also a crack going up towards the regulator and one that's on the stamp. I assume the cracks are all on the outside of the bottle and nothing is actually exposed. The tank also is holding 2000 psi of air. My questions: 1) If I return the tank does ninja pay for shipping costs? I bought the tank 6 months ago. 2) The fibers are exposed at the neck of the tank, what is a safe way to remove the air? Thanks

Ninja wont, but our bottle manufacturer will. They had a bad batch of gel coat go out on some tanks and some of them can develop cracks in the outer gel coat. As long as the fibers underneath the gel coat are not damaged, its still perfectly safe to use.

Click this link and follow the instructions for repair work on your bottle: http://97.74.153.121/NinjaWarrantyTa...s/warranty.php

Fibers that are exposed are ok, as long as they are not damaged. To be honest, you can "peel" off all of your gel coat and still be able to safely use the tank. Drain it however you want to drain it. Maybe dry fire or use a UFA; its entirely up to you.

Ninja Tank Orings

I have a DXS 68/4500 tank with a Ninja HP regulator. There are two red orings on the top of the bonnet that are degrading. What size, type are they and where can I get them for replacement? Also, do you need to put dow 33 on the threading prior to screwing the tank into the gun's ASA? Thought that would make the tank blow up? I also noticed my threads are wearing as well.

I would visit your pro shop for o rings, Even a sporting goods store should carry tank O rings. They are like 25 cents each, so getting online wouldn't be worth it. Size is 015.

the dow 33 is outside of the reg, and contains no oil. Anything oil based that gets in the tank can be dangerous with HPA. Dow33 just keeps the threads smooth, and clean. Really helps to prolong the life of the threads.
