Rob, I have a problem with a 68/4500 tank I purchased in February. I never noticed any leaks, but I got sick and was out of commission for a few months. I went to take it out last night, and it was empty (should have had 3k+/- in it). I had it filled at the field today before I left (4.3k), and brought it home and dropped it in a pitcher of water. It's leaking from the fill nipple where it screws into the reg, it's leaking from where the gauge screws into the reg, and it's leaking from the gauge itself between the glass and the metal. Any suggestions on fixing this stuff?

If you're interested, I do have a video I can email you of the leaks.

Thanks!

Rob, how long does it take to do the reg swap program? I want to play next weekend, and if I can get it swapped by Friday I will.

Most standard gauges have some variation in them, but the liquid filled ones (like on a fill panel) are far more accurate. Just trying to clarify/troubleshoot your issue here. Let me know if I missed anything
So my Pro-reg has about 3 fills now and it's reading 550 PSI. Maybe a slight break-in period?

I would think that they would have a slight break in. And error from a gauge is probably higher than the break in change.

Hi Rob,

I just realized that I made a big mistake when playing around with my new reg, and I wanted to broadcast my stupidity, in hopes that I can have someone else avoid the same mistake and possibly be injured.

Someone should post pics that clearly show the difference between the belleville spring stack, and the shims used for adjustment. I was removing parts of the spring stack, not the shims. Im not sure what could have happened if I actually aired up and used the tank in that condition, but Im sure it wouldnt have been good. Might want to put up some pics to avoid this in the future.

Thanks for the laugh fetus. I'm curious what would have happened with the Belleville shims removed as well, maybe Rob can shed somelight?

This link might help you out, I and always add to it to make it better

Opened up my ninja adjustable reg, 45k, it has no shims in it at all. What would that put my pressure at, I need to run a g6r off it

Are you sure that the shims are not stuck at the base of the regulator? That can happen from time to time. In a G6R you would want to remove all shims to get low pressure output from your reg. I would just double check that the shims are not stuck at the bottom, if they are out you should see the black bottom of the regulator.

hey, today after a day of playing I tried to unscrew my tank from my gun but the bonnet came of instead. I do not know how this couldve happened because the allen screws were in tight. Now my tank has a giant leak and when i shake it i hear a rattling noise. Could i fix this myself or would i need to send it in?

I hope to be training tomorrow so i'll find out if it's holding air ok.

One idea that came to mind was to maybe put the o-ring into the freezer for a while to see if the cold will shrink it slightly enough fo it to sit flush.
My Ninja Pro doesn't close up tight to the tank either. The o-ring kind of hold the reg away from the tank a tiny bit. I used it all day today with no problems except the grub screws came loose and the reg rotated around. I guess I need some locktite on them so they stay locked down. When I tightened down the rotator collar I noticed the bonnet screws had worked lose too. I'm just glad I didn't lose and screws!

Ok thanks for the info,i'm not so worried now :-)

Just a tip....but i have always used a dab of clear nail varnish to lock down grub screws like trigger adjustment screws etc.... works like a charm.

The regs are on the way to GA for warranty service, but my confidence in them has been seriously rocked. 3 identical regs all failing identically says there must be some weakness in the design. As a result I have purchased a Ninja Pro and hopefully it will be here tomorrow in time for me to use it on Sunday.

Ninja, here's your chance to win a customer away from GA so don't blow it. I have bought your best reg so it needs to be prefect.
Did you get a chance to test her out yet? If so, what do you think?

When i screw down the reg tight onto the bottle it leaves a small gap which is about the thickness of a piece of paper.

I have taken the o-ring off the underside of the reg and it sits in the countersunk groove on the bottle ok and also tried the reg without the o-ring fitted and it sits flush but when the o-ring is on the reg and i try screwing it into the bottle the reg just doesn't want to sit tight with the bottle.

I understand if i torque the reg onto the bottle to the recommended strength it will tighten up a little bit more but i don't want to crush the o-ring in the process

Thanks...Mike
Mike, we include (2) orings for the reg stem threads that you screw into the neck of the bottle. The way the threads start in the neck of your bottle will dictate which oring to use. I would try the other oring we included and see if that works

Hey MugenR. I have a feeling that gauge may be a little off. Tank regulator gauges are known for not being the most accurate gauge you can use for testing. If you're going to be at one of the national events, you can bring the regs by our booth for a quick pressure check to see what our certified gauges read. Also, when we state say 450, 500, 700, or 800psi, there is a +/-25psi variance in either direction, so if that gauge is reading around 590 with two shims out, that is pretty close to the 550psi output we describe in the manual, taking into account the +/-25 psi variance in either direction.

Please call us so we can see if the gauge can be warrantied. As far as the leaks coming from where the threads screw into the reg, re-applying thread sealant tape and reinstalling the part should take care of it.

no, no break in period. If you're going to test a regulator, please use a CERTIFIED gauge and not a gauge that's old that you pulled off of a tank regulator.

No, no break in period. Most likely a bad reading from a very old tank regulator gauge. Its an old bob long gauge.
